World Cup – Round Of 16 Best Bets
The most noticeable feature of the World Cup tournament so far has been the South American dominance, with South American teams winning 15 of the 21 matches they’ve played against non-South American teams.
However, there are only two such fixtures in the eight matches in the Round of 16, and both take place on Sunday with Mexico taking on Holland, and Costa Rica taking on Greece. Mexico can be backed at 14/5 to win in 90 minutes and Costa Rica 17/11 to do the same – and both look worth chancing.
There are also two all-South American clashes taking place (both on Saturday) with Colombia entertaining Uruguay, and Brazil playing Chile. Suarez’s love of Italian food has dropped his team-mates right in it, and just about everyone will be cheering on the entertaining Colombians. Considering even England would have probably beaten Uruguay without Suarez – the even-money Colombia to win in 90 minutes looks the best bet of the weekend.
Chile, who are a tempting 5/1 to beat Brazil in 90 minutes, have been one of the most entertaining and impressive sides in the group stages. Stunning against Spain and Australia, they were arguably Holland’s equal even if the 2-0 score-line suggested otherwise, and a small wager on the overpriced Chileans may pay dividends.
Argentina, the remaining South American team, look to have a pretty straightforward task against Switzerland and the 1/2 for them to win comfortably in 90 minutes looks one to put in all your multiples alongside the favourites of the other three matches in which France are 8/15 to beat Nigeria, Germany 6/19 to beat Algeria and Belgium 13/15 to beat USA.

90 minutes multiple Argentina, France, Germany and Belgium best prices
Interestingly, Brazil 3/1 and Argentina 4/1 are still the same prices as when the tournament began. Meanwhile Germany has contracted to 4/1 from 7/1, France 8/1 from 25/1, and Holland 8/1 from 40/1. Of those five, Argentina looks to have the easiest route to the semis with a quarter-final against Belgium beckoning. Meanwhile, France and Germany look likely to clash in the quarters, whilst Brazil will have to defeat Chile, then probably Colombia followed by France or Germany to reach the final. If you haven’t backed Argentina already then 4/1 each-way still looks a great bet.
