Wimbledon 2016

Published on June 27, 2016 by Tim @ Betting Gods

Wimbledon 2016 gets underway on Monday 27th June, and it’s time to place your bets if you haven’t done already.

Men’s Singles Outright

As world number one Novak Djokovic and world number two Andy Murray arrive at the top of their games, it looks likely that one of them will add another title to their CVs. Djokovic bids for his fourth men’s singles title having won in 2011, 2014 and 2015, and must have every chance. However, having nailed my colours to Andy Murray earlier in the week, I’m not deserting him now as he’s been handed a great draw with his Wimbledon nemesis Federer in Djovovic’s half of the draw. Djokovich has the beating of Federer, so should make the final, however he’s yet to take a set off Murray in two grass-court encounters.

Name The Finalists

If you’re not convinced that Murray will beat Djokovic, or vice-versa, then backing both of them to be in the final at around 13/8 also looks fantastic value. Federer is struggling for form and, with Nadal out of the tournament, both Murray and Djokovic really should make the final unless they’re unlucky enough to get injured.

Women’s Singles

Injury may have curtailed much of Serena William’s Season, but even at 90% fitness she still looks to good for the opposition, and she may actually arrive here fresher and hungrier than usual. She does have the added pressure of bidding for a share of history but, having won here 4 times in the last 7 years, the 13/8 looks decent value.

First Round Match Best Match Bet

Donald Young looks decent value at even-money to beat Leonardo Mayer. The American looked in decent form on grass at Queens with 3 wins before losing to Bautista Agut. Meanwhile, Mayer has given the grass-court season a miss so far, and had lost 5 of his 6 matches on clay before that.

First Round Accumulator

With so many matches to looks forward to in the first round, played over Monday and Tuesday, many of you might also want to consider placing an accumulator to give yourself an interest in lots of the matches with short-priced favourites – so here’s my acca!

Sam Querrey to beat Lukas Rosol

Dominic Thiem to beat Florian Mayer

Bernard Tomic to beat Fernando Verdasco
