Will Leicester Dare Lift Trophy At Old Trafford

Will Leicester Dare Lift Trophy At Old Trafford

A rare clean sweep on the football front last-week with four from four, and I hope a few of you did the 140/1+ acca. I, sadly, didn’t. But my mate who threw £20 at it with a view to winning his family holiday tells me he’s going to Majorca – and he’s not even bought me a pint yet!Premier League

But on with the action. The prospect of the Premier League trophy being won at Old Trafford on the third last game of the season is nothing unusual, except when it’s Leicester who’ve got the chance of winning it – but I’m sure everyone connected with Manchester United is keen for that not to happen. However, even if Leicester lose they can still win the title this weekend as Spurs have a tricky looking game at Chelsea. Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, as Norwich are away at Arsenal, both Sunderland and Newcastle will see this as a great opportunity to stake a further claim for survival.

Newcastle vs Crystal Palace (Saturday 3pm)

Survival is now a distinct possibility for Newcastle, but surely they’ll have to win this match to avoid the drop. Two wins and two draws in the last 4 renewals gives them plenty of hope, as does the fact they’ve won one and drawn two of their last 3 home games. However, despite an away defeat at Old Trafford last time on their travels, Palace had drawn their previous three away games. There’s a lot of draws in those statistics, and that makes the 13/5 for another one look the value.

Stoke vs Sunderland (Saturday 3pm)

Sunderland must be relishing playing a Stoke side that has just lost 4-0 to Manchester City, 4-0 to Spurs and 4-1 to Liverpool, especially as they also beat Stoke 2-0 earlier in the season. They’ve also only lost 1 of the last 4 renewals, and have notched-up two draws and a win in their last 3 away games. However, it’s probably the draw that again offers the value at 12/5.

Manchester United vs Leicester (Sunday 1.30)

A win for Leicester will see them lift the trophy at Old Trafford, however I can’t see anyone at Old Trafford being happy if that happens. A much better scenario for everyone would be winning the trophy in front of their home fans next weekend against Everton, and Manchester United can help extend the excitement by winning.

Chelsea vs Spurs

Unless I’m mistaken, you have to go back to 1990 to find the last time Spurs won at Stamford Bridge, though they have drawn on two of their last four visits. The two teams also drew earlier in the season at White Hart Lane, and 11/4 for another draw catches the eye, and would extend the possibility of Spurs winning the title, if Leicester lose at Old Trafford.

Draw @ 11/4 (Betway)
