What Is A Lucky 63 Bet?
A Lucky 63 bet is a popular bet which allows you to combine six selections into a multiple bet comprising six singles, 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 4-folds, six 5-folds, and one 6-fold – which is 63 bets, hence the name Lucky 63.
Most bookies will let you choose your Lucky 63 selections from a wide range of sports such as horse racing, football, tennis, and golf. Many will also let you place multi-sport Lucky 63s, allowing you to combine your fancied selections from a variety of sports into one bet.
To illustrate this, consider your six selections to be called A, B, C, D, E, and F, and you can see how these selections are combined in the example Lucky 63 below. The “Xs” mark which selections are used in each bet.
Cost of a Lucky 63 Bet
When placing a win Lucky 63, you simply multiply your stake by 63x to get the total cost of your bet. If you want to place an each-way Lucky 63, this costs twice as much, so simply multiply your stake 122x. For example, a £1 Lucky win 63 will cost you £63 and a £1 each-way Lucky 63 will cost you £62.
Advantages of a Lucky 63 Bet
The main advantage of a Lucky 63 is it gives you loads of different chances to win. You’ll get some money back if just one of your selections wins or places, and many bookies boost one winning selection on a Lucky 63 by offering double or even triple the odds.
A Lucky 63 also gives you the chance to land big winning bets, with those doubles, trebles, 4-folds, 5-folds, and 6-fold. Lucky 63 bets are especially popular at big horse racing meetings, where you get the chance to combine six selections at big odds.
For example, imagine those big juicy handicaps at either Royal Ascot, the Cheltenham Festival, or the Grand National Meeting. You could easily combine winning selections at say 8/1, 10/1, 12/1, 14/1, 16/1, and 20/1. The combined odds of those six horses winning would be over 13,000,000/1, meaning you could be a millionaire for just a 10p Lucky 63 – or just £6.30.
Even a 10p each-way Lucky 63 in which all six of the above selections only placed would win you over £900. You could also have all sorts of combinations of winners and placed horses that would offer a variety of different sized payouts. Some bookmakers even pay bonuses based on the number of winning selections you have.
Limits on Lucky 63 Payouts
Yes, they do. It’s a good idea to check what these limits are before you place your bet. Just imagine how disappointed you’d be if you thought you’d won a £13 Million by placing a £1 win lucky 63 on the above selections only to find that the limit of the bookie you bet with was only £100,000. However, many bookies do offer limits of £500,000 or even £1,000,000.
Don’t forget, if you do think you might have six big-priced winners, you can always place Lucky 63 bets to smaller stakes with a few bookmakers. They’d then all pay out up to their limits and you could still win that big amount if you’re good enough to pick six big-priced winners.
Lucky 63 Calculator
As the name suggests, you’ll need to work out your winnings and losses from a total of 63 bets – and that can become quite time-consuming. That’s why we highly recommend using this calculator to work out your profit/loss from your Lucky 63 (especially as it’s free to use):
Difference Between a Lucky 63 and a Heinz Bet?
A Heinz Bet is basically a Lucky 63 without the six single bets. That means there are only 57, which is why it is called a Heinz, after the Heinz 57 adverts if you’re not if enough to remember those. So, a Heinz bet will cost you 57 times your stake or 114 times if you’re betting each-way. You obviously don’t get any return on a Heinz unless at least two selections win (or place if an each-way Heinz) but you can, equally, use the stake from those hypothetical singles to increase the stake on your doubles, trebles, 4-folds, and acca to try and maximise your returns. The choice is yours.
