Watford vs Everton Match Details
Everton vs Watford kicks-off at 15.00 at Vicarage Road on Saturday 1 February.
Watford boss Nigel Pearson will have been annoyed to see his side lose 2-1 at Aston Villa in their last Premier League match, especially as they were 1-0 up at half-time and Tyrone Mings scored Villa’s winner in the 95th minute. But the Hornets FA Cup defeat by Tranmere is best overlooked as Pearson chose to field a weakened starting line-up with Premier League survival top of Watford’s priorities.
Before those two defeats, Watford had strung together an impressive run of six unbeaten Premier League games that started with a 2-0 home win over Manchester United. They also beat Aston Villa and Wolves at home and drew with Tottenham, whilst they beat Bournemouth away from home and drew with Sheffield United.
Watford’s last five Premier League home games have finished 0-0, 2-1, 3-0, 2-0, and 0-0.
Carlo Ancelotti started his reign as manager in style with wins over Burnley and Newcastle and there was no disgrace in losing their two games away to Manchester City (2-1) and Liverpool (1-0). The Toffees then beat Brighton and have drawn away at West Ham and at home to Newcastle since.
However, Everton have still only won two away games all season and Ancelotti needs to improve Everton further if they are to finish in the top-half of the table.
Three of Everton’s last five away games have produced less than 2.5 goals, with the other two finishing 2-1. Both teams have scored in four of those five games.
