NBA Preview And Betting Tips – Week 21

After the Golden State Warriors lived up to their favourites tag with a 4-0 whitewash of the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers find themselves just one win from another encounter with Stephen Curry and Co. Kyrie Irving was the start of the show in Game 4, with the 4x NBA All-Star scoring 42 points in order to give the Cavs a 3-1 lead over the Boston Celtics. Another win for Cleveland on Friday morning in Boston will see them reach the NBA Finals for third consecutive season.

Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavaliers – Game 5 – Friday 26th May – 01:30am (UK Time)

Despite having suffered defeat in Game 4, as well as the fact that they are still dealing with the news that Isaiah Thomas will be out for the remainder of the series, Boston Celtics Head Coach, Brad Stevens, is still far from throwing in the towel. Having already caught the Cavaliers off guard in their own hometown once during the series, the Celtics know that they cannot afford any more slipups. The Cavs were able to turn around a 16-point deficit in Game 4, with Lebron James recovering from an uncharacteristically unproductive performance previously. James recovered from his side blowing a 21-point lead in Game 3, where the 3x NBA Champion even received jeers from his own supporters at the Quicken Loans Arena, scoring 48 second half points alongside Irving.

As for the Celtics, having been dealt another blow in the build up to Game 4, with Amir Johnson having been ruled out with a shoulder strain, with Stevens undoubtedly hoping that the power forward will be fit in time for their next match-up. With Kelly Olynyk having started in place of the 30-year-old, Boston started off Game 4 in fine form, limiting their turnovers, along with Cleveland’s second-chance opportunities.

The Celtics were full of praise for the performance of Irving in particular, suggesting that sometimes the NBA’s players are capable of taking over on the biggest stage. However, they are certainly going to have to put this out of their minds in time for Game 5, with the Celtics having to pull off one of their games of the season, without the skills of Thomas. Without Thomas, many believe that the Cavaliers have the three best players in the series on their roster, with Kevin Love joining both James and Irving at the top of the game.
