Monmouth Park Announces Sports Betting Lounge
Monmouth Park Racetrack in New Jersey is set to be a haven for sports bettors and gamblers.
Gambling in a win at the Supreme Court today, Monmouth Park has already spent $1 million on developing a sports lounge, with the intention of being a leading sports betting lounge managed by William Hill.
The court is set to determine a federal law that currently prevents states from allowing sports betting. Should the court approve the law, dozens of states could soon make sports betting legal.
Commenting on the pending announcement Chris Grove, MD if Eilers & Krejcik Gaming said “I don’t think it’s unfair to say if there is a broad ruling, you could be witnessing a reshaping of the global gambling industry”
Daniel Wallach, a sports and gambling legal expert said, the case could “transform how sporting events are consumed and watched in this country.”
It is estimated that around $150 billion is staked illegally on sports betting each year.
Vito Paolantonio, a resident of New Jersey who attends Monmouth Park Racetrack stated “I’m a 52-year-old male who loves sports,” he said. “If we were here and I was watching a game, I would absolutely throw in a few dollars to make it more interesting. I think as a middle-class American, a lot of others would do the same.”
