The UK Gambling Commission has published details outlining it’s strategy to make gambling safer and fairer over the next three years.
According to UKGC Executive Director Sarah Gardner, the commission’s strategy is focused on putting consumers first, preventing harm to the players and raising standards in the gaming markets.
“Consumers must be able to make informed choices about their gambling and feel protected. We want consumers to feel empowered, we want them to have the right sort of information, and tools to help them manage their gambling.” – Gardner said.
Keeping children safe from gambling
One of the most important points of this announcement is to prevent operators from creating games that are appealing to kids, as well as promoting them.
Last month a letter was sent to around 450 operators, by UKGC, advising this should be changed.
The letter warned of possible sanctions should sites fail to comply with the CAP code, which requires marketing communications for gambling to be socially responsible.
To close Sara Gardner UKGC Executive Director said – “Consumers must be able to make informed choices about their gambling and feel protected,” Gardner said. “We want consumers to feel empowered, we want them to have the right sort of information, and tools to help them manage their gambling.”
