Dubai Fillies Mile Preview And Tip
The Dubai Fillies Mile (Friday 3.10) is a Group-1 Race for 2-year-old fillies run at Newmarket. It was originally run at Ascot, but was transferred to Newmarket in 2011.
Aidan O’Brien has trained 3 of the last 10 winners (including the last 2), whilst Godolphin have also had 3 winners in the last decade. Meanwhile, last year’s wining jockey Ryan Moore is the only jockey to have previously ridden a winner of the race.
8 runners are set to go to post for the 2016 Dubai Fillies Mile.
Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor has trained a previous winner, and this one won her debut here at Newmarket over 6-furlongs, before disappointing when sent off favourite for the Group-3 Solero Stakes over course and distance. However, her stable were out-of-form at the time, and no major surprise if she outran her odds.
Sent off favourite when winning on debut in a Haydock Maiden, but that form has yet to be tested.
Won over 7-furlongs on good-to-firm on her third start, before just getting touched-off in a HGroup-2 and a Group-1 on her next two starts, both on softer ground. However, Ryan Moore rides stable-mate Rhododendron.
Beat Hydrangea by a head in a Group-2, but then finished just under 2-lengths behind her in a Group-1. Ryan Moore probably had the choice, but it was noticeable that he rode another of Aidan O’Brien’s horses in that aforementioned Group-1.
Impressive on debut over 7-furlongs here, and was then unlucky in a Goodwood Group-3. Ridden more aggressively to win at Doncaster over a mile last-time, and looks to have everything in her favour here.
Looked outpaced over 7-furlongs on debut here, but then was very impressive back here over a mile on her next start, winning by 10-lengths. That form hasn’t got much substance, but she could well have more improvement to come, and Godolphin like to target this race.
Beaten on debut, but had Sobetsu over 3-lengths behind when winning next time out over 7-furlongs. No reason she won’t get a mile, and a potential danger to all.
Most exposed runner after 7 runs, and has 3-lengths to find on Rich Legacy on their Doncaster form. Won 3-times, but beaten all class-1 starts.
Dubai Fillies Mile Tip
Taking on Aidan O’Brien at this time of year can be foolhardy, but the fact that Ryan Moore didn’t choose either of his runners the last time they ran makes me want to take them on. Meanwhile, it’s easy to make a case for the unexposed pair Sobetsu and Spatial who could be anything after just two runs. However, I’d sooner go each-way on Rich Legacy, who has proven her ability to handle Newmarket and this type of ground, and she look like shell be tough to beat if it turns into a scrap.
