Christmas Crackers From Betting Gods

If you’re a big Betting Gods fan, then it’s likely you’ll be just as keen to plan your Christmas around the brilliant array of festive horse racing that this year will set more juices flowing than a perfectly-cooked turkey – so let’s take a look at the Christmas Crackers we’re looking forward to.

Christmas Horse Racing
Ascot 19th December
The last really big meeting before Boxing Day really requires a mention. Reve De Sivola bids for a Long Walk Hurdle Four-Timer, but will have to fight-off the challenges of the rapidly improving Thistlecrack and last year’s World Hurdle runner-up Saphir Du Rheu. There’s also the Silver Cup in which The Young Master will be bidding to make amends for an early exit in the Hennessey, and the big-money Ladbroke Hurdle which may be fought out by Jolly’s Cracked It and Winner Massagot.

Kempton 26th December
I’ve already told the wife there’s no way I’m going to the mother-in-law’s before 5pm – as the mouth watering clash of potential superstars Vautour and Don Cossack looks sure to go ahead with a supporting cast of Cue Card and dual winner Silviniaco Conti. We’re also likely to see Faugheen try and redeem his reputation in the Christmas Hurdle.

Leopardstown 26th December
The TV remote will be busy on Boxing day as we flip from Kempton to Leopardstown where watching the so far unbeaten Douvan in the Racing Post Novice Chase could witness the dawn of the next chasing star.

Chepstow 27th December
If you love a good slog in the mud, then the Welsh National will be high on your agenda. Last year’s winner Emperor’s Choice looks likely to try and defend his crown after a recent win at Haydock, though all the early money has been for Upswing and Cogry, whose trainers have both won the race before.

Kempton 27th December
Don’t forget to enjoy the second helping of Christmas Kempton this year though as Sprinter Sacre looks to build on his impressive seasonal debut – and we can only hope he wins the Desert Orchid Chase before heading to Cheltenham in March to take on Un De Sceaux in the Champion Chase.

Leopardstown 27th December
Talking of Un De Sceaux, you can see the Willie Mullins trained favourite for the Champion Chase in action on the same day in the Dial A Bet Chase , whilst the Paddy Power Chase always brings together a competitive bunch of handicappers.

Leopardstown 28th December
The Lexus Chase is also another must as potential Gold Cup contenders Don Poli, Djakadam and Road To Riches are set to clash.

Leopardstown 29th December
The great action at Leopardstown never stops, and Willie Mullins holds the key to the Ryan Air Hurdle where he has both Arctic Fire and Nicholls Canyon entered, and let’s not forget that the latter beat Faugheen on his seasonal debut. Current RSA Chase ante-post favourite No More Heroes is also set to continue his progression in the Neville Hotels Novice Chase.
