The 2015 William Hill Greyhound Derby Third Round Heats

What a weekend of Greyhound fixtures we have in prospect with Romford and Sunderland live on Racing Post Greyhound TV this evening, all eyes will be on Wimbledon for the third round heats of the derby on Saturday evening, while on Sunday RPGTV will be heading off to Henlow for a decent mixed card. It should be a cracker!

The feature race this evening is the Rose Bowl final from Romford at 9.24, with the likes of Blonde Razor (T1), Pharisee Flyer (T4), and Jimmy Nailed On (T6) in the race the run into the first corner will be vital and whatever leads off the second bend is the winner in my opinion. On the draw Blonde Razor is the selection – the Mark Wallis trained son of Kinloch Brae is a class act over this six bend trip and he has won his last two by a combined distance of over sixteen lengths, with Dinner Jackpot (T2) a little inconsistent at the boxes and Droopys Flash (T3) not the quickest to the corner our selection has a cracking chance to hold the rails into the first corner and make all.

The 10.26 at Romford is a very interesting race with Rearguard Bond (T2), Bubbly Time (T3), Droopys Cottage (T4) and Droopys Tamera (T6) all in with a chance of landing the prize in the Deborah Caldwell marathon over the 750 meter trip, even over this trip the break will be vital.

Romford specialist Adageo Bob will be returning to the London road venue this evening and the Mark Wallis trained son of Hondo Black will take the world of beating from T4. The key to the race is simply the break – on the bunny Bob is a class act.

Saturday – Wimbledon live on Racing Post Greyhound TV

The 2015 Greyhound Derby third round heats take centre stage on Saturday evening with the first heat at 7.16. There are eight heats in total and with just three qualifying from each race into the next round there are sure to be some shocks on the night.

The 8.19 is the race that catches the eye on Saturday evening and with many of the leading outright fancies lining up its bound to be a very competitive race and there could be a shock on the cards. Farloe Blitz (T1), Newinn Yolo (T3), and new track record holder Eden The Kid (T4) are all capable of a ping break so the run into the first corner will be vital. Only three qualify for the next round of the competition and in a heat as competitive as this there are bound to be some disappointed connections after the race. Other notable runners on Saturday night include Droopys Nidge (T6, 7.32), Clares Wonder (T6, 8.04) and Viking Jack from T5 in the final heat at 9.07. Good luck to all trainers and connections who are still in the competition chasing the 250k prize.

Outright betting is available with all major bookmakers – each way terms are now 1/4 odds, first four places.

Sunday – Henlow live on Racing Post Greyhound TV

As ever the RPGTV week concludes at Henlow on Sunday evening with a decent mixed card featuring eight graded and four open races. The one that appeals at this early stage is Swift Betsey from T2 in the 9.15 Henlow maiden open race over the 550 meter trip. The youngster showed decent all round pace last Sunday behind a decent winner (Coolavanny Ester) and in a race lacking genuine early pace there’s a chance she can grab the rails around the first couple of bends and make all. As ever over the 550 meter trip the break will be vital, with a short run into the corner our selection can’t afford a missed break.
