Will the US Open Tennis 2017 draw a larger crowd? It’s too soon to tell but what we do know is that the more popular a sport is, the more betting action there is.

US Open Tennis 2017: Men

Men’s tennis has been off to an exciting start. Upsets and revivals have already rocked the courts. If you’re looking to get into betting, you’ll want to keep an eye on our top ten contenders in male tennis.

Top 10 Men

  1. Novak Djokovic
  2. Andy Murray
  3. Roger Federer
  4. Rafael Nadal
  5. Stanislas Wawrinka
  6. Nick Kyrgios
  7. Juan Martin del Potro aka Delpo
  8. Milos Raonic
  9. Grigor Dimitrov
  10. Kei Nishikori

Novak Djokovic

The seven-times US Open finalist is off to a promising start this year after defeating Andy Murray at Doha. Djokovic claimed titles at Indian Wells and Miami in 2011, and in the last three years.

Andy Murray

Holding the number one rank in the world makes Murray a sure thing for our list of top ten men’s tennis players for the US Open Tennis 2017. He recently won the tournament in Dubai.

Roger Federer

Is it enough to say being Roger Federer is enough reason to give him a high-placing spot on our list? If not, he recently won the Australia Open and since January has risen from a ranking of 17 to six.

Rafael Nadal

After winning at Acapulco in 2005 and 2013 on a red clay court, Nadal made it to this year’s finals on a hard court, only to be defeated by Federer. Still, his impressive performance earns him a spot on our top ten.

Stanislas Wawrinka

How could we not include last year’s US Open men’s singles champion? Wawrinka is worth watching for this year’s tournament.

Nick Kyrgios

Kyrgios is on a roll, having recently made it to the semi-finals in Miami. Keep your eyes on him as we approach the US Open.

Juan Martin del Potro is another top player who claimed the US Open 2009 title after defeating Nadal and Federer. He made it to the semi-finals in both the 2009 French Open and Wimbledon 2013.

Milos Raonic

Ranked number three in November 2016, Raonic is a must-have on our top ten list. He made it to the Wimbledon finals in 2016, and the semi-finals in the 2016 Australia Open.

Grigor Dimitrov

After his performance in the Sofia championship, we couldn’t exclude Dimitrov–especially not after he made the Australia Open semi-finals this year. He also made it to the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2014.

Kei Nishikori

With previous stellar performance–making the finals in the US Open Tennis 2014–Nishikori is another must-watch tennis pro.

US Open Tennis 2017: Ladies

Ladies’ tennis has gotten off to an exciting start as well, with Williams and Kerber continuing to pass the number one world ranking back and forth.

Check out our top ten ladies to follow leading up to the US Open Tennis 2017.

Top 10 Ladies

  1. Serena Williams
  2. Angelique Kerber
  3. Maria Sharapova
  4. Garbine Muguruza
  5. Karolina Pliskova
  6. Simona Halep
  7. Petra Kvitova
  8. Johanna Konta
  9. Madison Keys
  10. Agnieszka Radwanska

Serena Williams

Like Roger Federer, it might seem enough to simply state that Serena Williams deserves to be in our top ten because she is Serena Williams. She backs up her position with a number one world ranking and the win at the 2017 Australia Open.

Angelique Kerber

Kerber’s victory at the 2016 US Open, paired with her constant swapping of the number one world ranking, makes her a must-have on our list of top ten ladies’ tennis pros.

Maria Sharapova

She’s won tournaments all over the world, the most recent being the French Open in 2014. Maybe she’s due for another title, but either way, she’s worth watching.

Garbine Muguruza

Muguruza has shown a strong performance these last few years, making the finals at Wimbledon in 2015 and winning the French Open in 2016.

Karolina Pliskova

In 2016, Pliskova made it to the finals at the US Open. Will 2017 be the year she takes the title? She’s off to a promising start with 2017 titles in both Brisbane and Doha.

Simona Halep

In 2014, Halep made the semi-finals at Wimbledon and took the title at the French Open. A year later, she made the semi-finals at the US Open.

This might be her year for another title. Keep your eye on her performance as we draw closer to the 2017 US Open.

Petra Kvitova

She won at Wimbledon twice, in 2011 and 2014. 2015 brought her into the quarter-finals at the US Open. Kvitova is one tennis player you don’t want to miss.

Johanna Konta

Ranked number 7 in the world for ladies’ tennis, a US Open title could be within Konta’s grasp. 2016 was a strong year for her, bringing her to the semi-finals at the Australia Open and the quarter-finals in the Olympic Games.

Madison Keys

Ranked as one of the top ten ladies’ pro tennis players in the world, we just had to include her in our own top ten! Keep a weathered eye on Keys’ performance; right now we’d say she’s worth betting on!

Agnieszka Radwanska

A number 8 ranking in the world paired with making the semi-finals in the Australia Open in 2016 (and 2014) makes Radwanska a possible contender for the US Open Tennis 2017.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro at betting or a spectator turned novice better, ranking lists are a great place to start. Yet, nothing beats deducing your own ideas on who might win and the best way to do that is to stay on top of the news.

Stay up to date on the latest tennis news as you think about who you will bet on for the US Open Tennis 2017.
