French Open Tennis Betting Tips : Quarter-Finals

It’s quarter-finals stage at the French Open and, with only one of the top-8 seeds failing to reach the last-8 stage, there have been few shocks so far.

The missing top-seed is Tomas Berdych, but even he only lost in the round of last 16 to 14th seed Jo Wilfried-Tsonga.

Tennis Betting fans everywhere are certainly in for treat with 4 great quarter-finals to watch, and here are some of the head-to-head statistics that might be of interest when picking your bets.

Nishikori vs Tsonga (Tuesday)

Though their 5 head-to-heads have all been on hard-courts, Nishikori appears to be the rightful favourite having won 4 of them. However, all the matches Nishikori has won have been tightly fought affairs 2-1, 3-2, 2-1 and 2-1. Tsonga has the power to hurt any player, but Nishikori may just have too much all-round game for the Frenchman.

Federer vs Wawrinka (Tuesday)

Federer has won 13 of their last 14 matches, including their last 5 encounters on clay. The 4/9 for Federer is due to the belief that these two-week tournaments and 5-set matches no longer play to his strengths. He’s had a pretty easy time of it so far – and Wawrinka still has to prove he’s at the top of his game.

Murray vs Ferrer

The tightest betting heat of the quarter-final matches, and it’s easy to see why. Whilst Murray has had the better of all their head-to-heads, Ferrer has won all 4 of their matches on clay winning 2-1, 2-0, 2-0 and 3-1. Murray has improved his clay game since they last met – but it’s a tough one to call.

Djokovic vs Nadal

A match any tennis fan will want to watch, with the undisputed world number one taking on the King of the Clay. Djokovic has won 2 of their last 3 clay court matches, but Nadal has won all three times they’ve met at the French Open including two finals and one semi-final. However, whilst Djokovic appears to be in the form of his life, Nadal has yet to impress against the top-ranked players this year, and Djokovic is fancied to progress.

  1. There’s no denying that Novak is the best in the world right now, but as the king of clay I would rule out a Rafa triumph at your peril. At 9/4 it looks an interesting bet.
