2017 BNP Paribas Masters Tennis Preview And Tip
The 2017 BNP Paribas Masters, or 2017 ATP Indian Wells as it is also known, is a Masters 1,000 Event, and is again being hosted by the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California, which used hardcourts.
It takes place between Mar 9 – 19, and the men’s draw includes 128 players, with the likes of Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer all playing.
There are some terrific potential early match-ups, but Andy Murray seems to have been lucky in the draw. He’s yet to lose a match to the seeded pair of Lopez or Bautista-Agut, and the same applies to one of his more likely potential quarter-final opponents Goffin. His other likely quarter-final opponent is Tsonga, but he holds a 14-4 head-to-head advantage and has won their last 5 matches.
The second quarter may well depend how motivated Stan Wawrinka is, as the Swiss player has a strong chance of making the semi-finals as he has great records against seeds Kohlschreiber and Berdych. He also has positive head-to-head records against potential quarter-finalist Monfils, Thiem and Isner, and it’s a tough quarter to call if Wawrinka doesn’t turn-up.
Sock has a tough-looking draw on paper, but holds a 2-1 advantage over the in-form Dimitrov and a 2-0 advantage over Cilic. He also won his last match against his most likely quarter-final opponent Nishikori – so he could be an interesting bet to win his quarter.
“The toughest quarter in history” is how the fourth quarter has been described since the draw was made, and it’s hardly surprising when you consider it has Djokovic, Federer and Nadal in it, along with Kyrgios, Alexander Zverev and Del Potro – wow – and it’s anyone’s guess who will progress to the semi-finals.
2017 BNP Paribas Masters Tennis Betting
Andy Murray 9/4, Novak Djokovic 3/1, Rafa Nadal 10/1, Roger Federer 10/1, Stan Wawrinka 20/1, Grigor Dimitrov 22/1, Kei Nishikori 28/1, Juan Martin del Potro 40/1, Dominic Thiem 40/1.
2017 BNP Paribas Masters Tennis Summary
The bottom-half of the draw look almost impossible to predict, though it seems likely that whoever emerges from it will have had to play at least two seriously tough matches. That could leave them vulnerable in the semi-finals, and it might just be worth having a small bet on Jack Sock in the hope that he wins the third-quarter. However, with such a tough bottom-half, it seems inconceivable that Andy Murray should be 9/4, as it’s possible he could reach the final without breaking sweat. Bookies are perhaps trying get him because he hasn’t previously won here, but that doesn’t put me off.
