2017 ATP Miami Preview And Tips

The ATP Miami or Miami Open is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Event played on the hardcourts of the Crandon Park Tennis Center. It has been dominated in recent seasons by Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray but, with the top two players in the world absent this week, Roger Federer heads the market at 7/2.

2017 ATP Miami Betting

Federer 7/2, Nadal 6/1, Nishikori 15/2, Raonic 8/1, Wawrinka 10/1, Krgios 14/1, Dimitrov 16/1, del Potro 20/1, Cilic 22/1, Thiem 25/1, Sock 40/1

After reaching last week’s final, it remains to be seen as to whether number-one Seed Stan Wawrinka is up for this week’s challenge. If he’s lacking even a bit of motivation, then this could be a tough-quarter for him with two huge pitfalls standing in his way in the form of Alexander Zverev and Nick Kyrgios. Zverev won their only previous match, whilst the score stands 2-2 between Wawrinka and Kyrgios. Kyrgios also beat Zverev comfortably last week and, if he’s fully recovered from what forced him to miss a quarter-final showdown with Roger Federer, he can reach the semi-finals.

It’s a similar story in the second-quarter, and you have to wonder whether Roger Federer will be able to go the distance after making the final in last week’s full-field event. If he’s not up for it, he could face an early exit at the hands of Juan Martin del Potro who has won 5 of their 20 matches. If del Potro gets through that match, he could make it to the finals. If he doesn’t, then Federer has also lost 2 of his 3 matches against his most likely quarter-final opponent Dominic Thiem.

An interesting quarter with both Nadal and Raonic in it, and Nadal will most likely have to get past Grigor Dimitrov, whom he beat in 5-sets in this year’s Australian Open, but lost his previous match to. Meanwhile, Raonic may have to overcome Jack Sock who, despite heading 8-2, he has lost his last 2 matches against. Sock also beat Dimitrov last week, and again looks a sporting bet to make it through his quarter.

The final quarter looks to offer a great chance of a semi-final spot to either Cilic or Nishikori and, though Cilic who has won their last 3 matches, Nishikori appears to be in better form.

Semi-Finals And Finals

If it’s a Kyrgios/del Potro semi-final then, with no previous form to go off, the improving Kyrgios is just preferred. Meanwhile, Sock beat Nishikori last week and can hopefully repeat the feat. Both players look worth backing each-way, with Kyrgios just preferred.
