The Delray Beach Tennis Centre is once again the host venue for the ATP Delray Beach, as it has been since 1999. The ATP World Tour 250 Series Events is played on hardcourts, and has attracted world number-3 Milos Raonic as its headline act for 2017. Meanwhile, the appearance of last year’s Champion Sam Querrey, 2015 Champion Ivo Karlovic and 2011 Champion Juan Martin del Potro – make it an interesting betting heat, whilst these previous winners also suggest the courts lend themselves to players with fast serves.
2017 ATP Delray Beach Betting
Milos Raonic 6/4, Jack Sock 11/2, Juan Martin del Potro 6/1, Ivo Karlovic 16/1, Steve Johnson 16/1, Bernard Tomic 16/1, Sam Querrey 33/1, Kyle Edmund 33/1.
As world number-3, Milos Raonic is ranked number-1 here, and that’s fully 46-places higher in the world rankings than the number-8 seed Kyle Edmund, who looks his most likely quarter-final opponent. The British number-2 has made giant strides over the last 12-months but, even though they haven’t played each other before, the courts should suit Raonic more.
The second-quarter could see reigning champion Querrey clash with del Potro in the quarter-finals. The American beat the Argentinean here last year on his way to the title, however del Potro won their two previous encounters and has found plenty of the form that saw him win a US Open since.
Neither player would be a pushover for Raonic though in the semi-finals. He’s 2-2 with Querrey in head-to-heads, though has won their last 2. Meanwhile, he’s 1-1 with del Potro, both of which were played in 2013.
The third quarter-final is seeded to be between Steve Johnson and Jack Sock, and it’s Sock who holds a slender 4-3 advantage in head-to-heads, and won their only 2017 clash 6-4 6-3. Meanwhile, Tomic leads Karlovic 3-2 in head-to-heads however, if the two do meet as seeded to in the fourth quarter-final, it’s Karlovic who has won their last 2 matches, and the big-serving 2015 Champion has a decent record here having also made the final in 2010. He also leads Sock 4-1 on head-to-heads, and has won all 3 of their hardcourt encounters.
Karlovic therefore makes plenty of each-way appeal from the bottom-half of the draw at 16/1, especially as he won the second of his two previous matches with Raonic. However, del Potro looks a viable alternative to Raonic at 4-times the price in the top-half of the draw, and he has beaten Karlovic the last 5 times they’ve played.
