Swinton Hurdle Preview – Saturday Horse Racing Tips

The statistics for the Swinton Hurdle (Haydock 3.25) for the last 10-years show that all winners in that time have been aged 4 to 7, with 7 winners carrying 10-10 or less and the other 3 no more than 11-6.

Trainer Evan Williams has won the last two renewals with Paul Moloney riding both of winners, whilst there has also been a dual winner in the shape of Eradicate for Nicky Henderson.

Cheltenian, Court Minstrel, Fergall, Barizan and Royal Guardsman bite the dust for being too old – leaving us 12 runners to try and whittle down.

War Sound

Looked like he was going to be a real tool after trouncing Southfield Royal on debut by 12 lengths (getting 7lb); and that horse has since won a handicap off a mark of 139. Not hit the heights that performance promised since but carries just 10-6lb here with Ciaran Gethings 7lb allowance taken off.

Handiwork

4lb higher than when 4th at Ayr when champion conditional Sean Bowen got a late rattle out of him.

Sleepy Haven

4lb higher than last win and trainer hasn’t had a winner in the last 4 weeks.

Arzal

Boasts a 6th in the Betfair Hurdle off the same mark, and his conditional’s allowance means he carries just 10-2.

Rayvin Black

Crept up the handicap for some decent placed efforts – but trainer said he prefers to go right-handed.

Ballglasheen

Last year’s winner is down to the same mark again after 5 winless runs since, and the visor is on for the first time since. Stable won last two renewals but haven’t had a winner in the last 4 weeks.

The Plan Man

Had lots of runs off similar marks and no obvious reason he should suddenly improve.

Vodka Wells

Trained by in-form Brian Ellison but on his highest ever mark and may be better giving weight to inferior horses.

Rathealy

Trained by David Pipe who has had 3 winners from his last 6 runners, but recent improvement has come giving weight to average horses.

Last Supper

Only rated in the 50s on the flat and 5lb rise for Perth win last time looks harsh.

Lexi Boy

2lb lower than last winning mark, and was rated in the 80s on the flat. Previous course 3rd gives him more of a chance than odds imply, and stable has had 4 winners from 19 runners in the last 9 days.

Song Light

8lb higher than last win and may be outclassed.

Today’s Free Horse Racing Tips

War Sound’s debut effort left a lasting impression and I like the fact he gets a chance to carry a low-weight, whilst Lexi Boy looks to have slipped to a mark he should take advantage of sometime soon and has a bit of course form. Therefore, I’m splitting my stakes and backing them both.

War Sound 2 points each-way @ 10/1 Ladbrokes 1/4 odds 1-2-3-4

Lexi Boy 1 point each-way @ 20/1 Paddy Power 1/4 odds 1-2-3-4

Nice shout on War Sound guys, although I also like the look of The Plan Man as an each way bet. Very consistent runner. Can’t see Lexis Boy pulling up any trees today.
