Sheffield United vs West Ham Match Details
Sheffield United vs West Ham kicks-off at 20.00 at Bramhall Lane on Friday 10 January. It will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
Sheffield United Form
The Blades suffered a tough end to 2019 and a difficult start to 2020 but didn’t lose any respect after losing 2-0 away from home at both Manchester City and Liverpool. But that did end their unbeaten record in style.
But the problem for punters is Sheffield United have shown more inconsistencies at home than away this season. Working backwards, they have drawn 1-1 with Watford, beaten Aston Villa 2-0, lost 0-2 to Newcastle United, and drawn 3-3 with Manchester United since they drew 1-1 away at this Friday’s rivals West Ham back on Saturday 26 October.
West Ham Form
The reappointment of David Moyes as West Ham manager may have shocked some, but he’s put his experience to good use immediately by securing a 4-0 win over Bournemouth and a 2-0 FA Cup win over Gillingham, suggesting West Ham will be better defensively under his leadership.
West Ham’s away form is mixed, with their 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace preceded by a 1-0 win at Southampton, a 2-0 defeat at Wolves, a 0-1 win at Chelsea, and a 3-0 loss at Burnley, since they last played Sheffield United.
Sheffield United vs West Ham Head-To-Heads
Sheffield United have played each other in just two Premier League seasons prior to this one. They met in the 1993/94 season when the two teams fought out a 0-0 draw at Upton Park before Sheffield United won a 3-2 thriller back at Bramhall Lane, despite the Blades being relegated by a single point.
Sheffield United were also relegated in the 2006/7 season, this time by a single goal, but that didn’t stop them winning their home match against West ham 3-0. But the Hammers also won at home 1-0 that season.
West Ham have looked the more likely to be relegated of the two teams this season but, despite being eight places lower than Sheffield United, they are only seven points behind them. Of course, the two teams have already fought out a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium.
