Everything You Want to Know About Naas
Naas Racecourse opened its gates in 1924 and its exciting mix of 15 flat and jumps meetings every year attract punters from around the local area, as well as Dublin which is about 30km away.
The track is a left-handed galloping track that measures around a mile and a half in length and the uphill finish tends to favour horses that are happy to put their heads down and grind it out all the way to the line.
The highlight of the flat racing calendar is the Blue Wind Stakes, which is a Group 3 race that takes place in May. It is named after the Irish-trained horse that won both the Epsom Oaks and Irish Oaks in 1981.
Naas was also rewarded for its efforts when the Lawlor’s Hotel Novice Hurdle was upgraded to grade one status in 2015, becoming the first grade one race to be run at the track. The course’s big chase is the Leinster National.
