About Lingfield

Everything You Want to Know About Lingfield

Lingfield Racecourse opened in 1890 and it is one of just two triple-purpose tracks that stages flat racing fixtures on both the turf and all-weather as well as jumps racing on turf.

Flat races up to seven furlongs and 140 yards on turf take place on a straight course, with longer races taking place on a round course measuring 12 furlongs. The highlights of the turf flat season include the Lingfield Oaks Trial and the Lingfield Derby Trial.

The all-weather flat track was constructed on the inside of the turf course and measures about 10 furlongs in length. The course stages a variety of high-profile all-weather races such as the Winter Derby, with the flagship fixture being All-Weather Finals Day which is held on Good Friday each year.

Jump races at Lingfield tend to be quite low-grade affairs and easy to jump fences mean that some lowly-rated horses that struggle at some of the higher-profile tracks often become course specialists here.
