Everything You Want to Know About Meydan
Meydan Racecourse opened in 2010 when it replaced the Nad Al Sheba Racecourse. It is a truly stunning venue with a grandstand that measures more than a mile in length and has the capacity to hold more than 60,000 visitors. As well as the racecourse, it offers a stunning five-star hotel, gallery, museum, and golf course.
However, it is the racecourse that takes centre stage. It has two tracks, with the nine-furlong dirt track having a run in of two furlongs. The turf track is located outside the dirt track and measures 12-furlongs with a run-in of around 500 metres. Sprint races on turf start in a chute to allow them to take place on a straight course.
Meydan hosts the world’s richest horse racing meeting, the Dubai World Cup Meeting, with the Dubai World Cup being the headline race. Other important races include the Dubai Sheema Classic, Dubai Gold Cup, and the Al Quoz Sprint.
