England national, and Arsenal player, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to join premier league champions Chelsea for a reported fee of £40m, after refusing to sign a new deal for Arsenal FC.
The player has been linked with both Chelsea and Liverpool for the past few weeks, with him being interested in both parties; however it is apparent that Arsenal have only received a bid from Chelsea.
It is thought that Arsenal would like business completed as soon as possible, so they can go on and sign a replacement if the unsettled midfielder leaves.
Although he has made it clear that he wishes to leave, he has still started every game for Arsenal so far this season, which included last Sundays embarrassing defeat to Liverpool, where they were hammered 4-0.
He would be Chelsea’s fifth big signing so far in this transfer window, and a great addition to the squad that has been weakened over the summer with many players leaving the club on loan deals.
It was reported that Chelsea Manager, Antonio Conte, had wished to sign four more players after the arrival of defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
In addition to this possible deal, Arsenal stars, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, have both shown desire to move elsewhere, as arsenal continues to disappoint in the race for the Premier League and failing to qualify for the Champions League this season. They have both refused upgraded contracts.
Former Arsenal striker, Ian Wright, had recently stated that the club are in “crisis from top to bottom”, and the manager should leave before things get worse.
