The National League comes to a conclusion this weekend, with Forest Green Rovers and Tranmere Rovers competing for a place in the Football League. The duo meet at Wembley on Sunday, with nine points having separated the two teams in the regular season. With Tranmere having run champions Lincoln City so close in the final weeks of the campaign, Micky Mellon’s side are perhaps the slight favourites, however with Forest Green having lost out at this stage last season, motivation will undoubtedly be high for Mark Cooper’s men. Striker Andy Cook has been in fine form for the Super White Army, scoring 23 league goals to date. Coupled with the skills or former Forest Green man James Norwood, the duo are set to test The Green to the max in front of a huge crowd at the home of football. With Tranmere holding the second best defensive record in the division, conceding just 39 goals in 46 games, the pressure will be on Forest Green striker Christian Doidge to deliver on the biggest stage. The Welshman scored in their second leg win over Dagenham & Redbridge, in what was his 26th goal of the season.

National League North
Meanwhile in the National League North final, Chorley face an uphill task to claim promotion as they head to the Shay to take on Halifax Town. Billy Heath’s men were undoubtedly the in-form team in the run-in, with the Shayman having also beaten Chorley both home and away this season. Despite the home side understandably going into the encounter as favourites, Chorley seemingly do not mind their underdog tag, having already seen off Kidderminster Harriers in the playoff semi-finals. Having become Chorley boss back in 2015 following his playing days at Victory Park, Matt Jansen could further enhance his growing reputation with victory on Saturday. Despite Chorley having only made it this far thanks to Darlington’s ineligibility, another shock is certainly within their reach. Halifax striker Tom Denton has been in fine form throughout the campaign, with the former Huddersfield Town youngster hoping to fire his team to promotion this weekend.

National League South
Also on Saturday, Ebbsfleet United take on Chelmsford City, with Daryl McMahon’s side the firm favourites to finish the job at Stonebridge Road. With over 5,000 supporters expected at the weekend, the visiting team certainly face a tricky task in overcoming the team that finished just two points behind champions Maidenhead. However, Rod Stringer’s men can take encouragement from their 2-1 victory over The Fleet back in September, despite eventually finishing 14 points behind them in the standings. With Ebbsfleet finding the back of the net no fewer than 96 times in the regular season, the Kent based side will be full of confidence in front of their home support. Former Premier League striker Aaron McLean will lead the line for Ebbsfleet, with the 33-year-old having already registered 7 goals since his arrival last year.
