Football Update – A New Deal For Zlatan!
Published on 25/08/17
Manchester United ace, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has put pen to paper for a new one-year-deal with The Red Devils.
On his incredible first season for United, Ibrahimavic found the back of the net 28 times in 46 games before suddenly developing a serious knee injury which put an end to his campaign for the reds in April.
Initially, the striker was rumoured to be ruled out until January 2018, however it has been announced that he may be possible to feature in United’s league fixture vs Tottenham on October 28. This will be his second season in the premier league, and it will see him wear the number 10 shirt.
The all-round goal scoring forward will continue his aim to win a fifth league title in five different countries, being the first player to achieve such a feat. He has won league titles for Ajax, Inter, Barcelona, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
Since this new deal has been struck. The player has said “I am back to finish what I started. It was always mine and the club’s intention for me to stay,”
“I cannot wait to get back out on that Old Trafford pitch, but I also know that I have to take my time to make sure that I am ready. I have been working hard and will continue to do so to make sure I am in the best possible condition for my return to the pitch.”
After his injury, the Swedish national was let go from United, but has continued to undergo rehabilitation to reach match fitness as soon as possible.
During pre-season, Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, suggested that a new deal was possible after positive discussions with the striker took place.
“We are delighted Zlatan is on the road to recovery and we are equally delighted to have his ambition and experience back with us.”
“After his contribution last season he deserves our trust and we will be patient waiting for him to return. I have no doubt that he will be important in the second part of the season.”
Zlatan will boost United’s chances of securing European and domestic glory for them this season.
