It has been confirmed this evening that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract with Manchester United has been terminated with immediate effect.
Rumours were already circulating of a potential move to MLS, with LA Galaxy in his sights.
Having played for Man Utd since 2016 Ibrahimovic had a knee injury in April 2017 which ended his first season short.
His return to action this season following an eight month lay-off was seen as disappointing by many and far from his 28 goals performance from 26 games in the previous season..
The move was confirmed by Ibrahimovic on Twitter:
Great things also come to an end and it is time to move on after two fantastic seasons with Manchester United. Thank you to the club, the fans, the team, the coach, the staff and everybody who shared with me this part of my history. #foreverred pic.twitter.com/vo1Gs3SUHL
