Manchester City vs Chelsea Match Details
Manchester City vs Chelsea kicks-off at the Etihad Stadium at 5.30pm on Saturday 23 November. The match is being shown live on Sky Sports.
Manchester City Form
Manchester City lost just two games in the 2017/18 Premier League season and four during the 2018/19 season, so it’s a worry they’ve lost three of their opening 12 games.
They’ve been beaten away from home by bottom club Norwich, whilst Pep Guardiola’s tactics have also come undone against shrewd tacticians Nuno Sanchez and Jurgen Klopp in City’s defeats by Wolves and Liverpool.
City also allowed Tottenham to snatch a point at the Etihad by scoring twice, whilst City struggled for a long time to overcome a Southampton side 2-1 that scored first in their recent home match.
Frank Lampard’s young Blues quickly shook off a disappointing 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford in their opening game and have played excellent on the road since. They’ve beaten Norwich 2-3, Wolves 2-5, Southampton 1-4, Burnley 2-4, and Watford 1-2, with their results against Norwich, Wolves, and Southampton all superior to those Manchester City achieved against those sides.
Admittedly, City did beat Watford 8-0 at home, but Watford improved before playing Chelsea.
Manchester City vs Chelsea Head-To-Heads
Manchester City and Chelsea have played each other 44 times in the Premier League with Chelsea holding a significant advantage having won 24 of those games to Manchester City’s 12.
City have won just eight of their home games against Chelsea, with Chelsea winning 12, whilst two have been drawn. But it’s City who have come out on top in the last couple of seasons, winning both games in 2017/18 and winning 6-0 at the Etihad last season.
