Knox Revved Up For Honda – Golf Betting Tips
The PGA Tour heads to Florida this week, where the PGA National Champion Course stages the Honda Classic.
It’s a strong looking field, with McIlroy, Fowler, Scott, Grace, Mickleson and Matsuyama all in attendance but, with lots of wind forecast, and a change of greens to Bermuda from Poa – it looks worth investing in some each-way value selections that have a mix of course form and decent scrambling skills.
Russel Knox 1 point each-way @ 40/1 (Skybet, Stan James) ¼ odds 6 places
The Scot really hit the big-time when registering his first win in a WGC event in China and, with a place in all this year’s big events safely secured, he can be forgiven for not being 100% motivated in the last few weeks. However, that may well all change here as, after finishing 2nd and 3rd in the last two years, he’ll know this is a great opportunity to notch-up a second win.
Luke Donald 1 point each-way @ 66/1 (Skybet, Stan James) ¼ odds 6 places
Much has been made of the fact that Luke Donald’s chances of winning are limited to a certain number of events on courses where his skill-set of a great short game is more of a requirement than others, and it’s no surprise that his form figures here read 1/46/2/10/8/7. He’s not been playing too badly recently, finishing 26th and 45th, and this is a great opportunity for him to get on the leaderboard.
Freddie Jacobson 1 point each-way @ 66/1 (Skybet, Stan James) ¼ odds 6 places
The Swede has been playing great recently since he put a new driver in the bag, and if that keeps him in play he should be competitive. Two top-4’s in his last 3 starts show he’s in form, and he’s had 3 top-6 finishes here in 10 starts.
Padraig Harrington 0.5 points each-way @ 125/1 (Stan James) ¼ odds 6 places
Having won this event twice in 7 years, and with him having made 4 of his last 5 cuts, the 125/1 is too hard to resist for a guy who loves to roll-up his sleeves when the going gets tough.
Jonas Blixt 0.5 points each-way @ 100/1 (Stan James) ¼ odds 6 places
31st last year, the Swede is in much better form this year having posted two top 6’s in his last 3 events. One of the best putters and chippers in the business, he could be primed for another big week.
Camillo Villegas 0.5 points each-way @ 150/1 (Stan James) ¼ odds 6 places
The Colombian was hit and miss at Riviera last week with opening rounds of 63 and 75, but he’s finished 1st and 2nd here in the past, and this could be another big week for him.
Tyrone Van Aswegen 1 point top-20 @ 20/1 (Wiliam Hill)
This might not be a name that trips easily off the tongue, but he did finish 24th here last year. It would be asking a lot for him to win in such a quality field, but he looks value for a top-20 finish, especially as he’s finished in the top-20 in 2 of his last 4 starts.
