Important Football Dates For 2020

2010 promises to be an exciting year in the world of professional football. There are some big questions to answer. Will Liverpool go unbeaten in the 2019/20 Premier League season and will they become Premier League champions with a record points haul? We’ll also find out who’ll win the 2020 EFL Cup, FA Cup, Europa League, and Champions League. There’s also the small matter of which international football team will be crowned Champions at Euro 2020? There’s even Olympic Football to consider.

Keep reading to find out lots of important football dates for 2020.

Important Premier League Dates

Liverpool vs Manchester United – January 19

Manchester United are the only team to have taken a point off Liverpool so far this season, but the pair face-up at Anfield this time. United have won this tie more times than Liverpool and have also ended the only two unbeaten Premier League runs that are longer than Liverpool’s current one. But Liverpool are currently the best club side in the world and will be out to prove a point… or three.

Chelsea vs Arsenal – January 21

Arsenal have a mountain to climb if they want to catch Chelsea and have a chance of playing Champions League football, and defeat here would surely put paid to the chances of the Gunners catching Frank Lampard’s Blues. Chelsea won last season’s corresponding fixture 3-2.

Leicester vs Chelsea – February 1

Third-placed Leicester have opened a nice gap over the chasing pack in the race for Champions League football, but a few defeats mean Brendan Rogers will be urging his team to keep their eyes on the prize. The good news for Leicester is they’ve won one and drawn three of their last four games against Chelsea and even a draw would the gap between the teams in third and fourth places is maintained.

Manchester United vs Manchester City – March 7

United have already inflicted a big dent in City’s bid for a hat-trick of Premier League titles with a 2-1 win at the Etihad this season. But City got their revenge with a 3-1 win at Old Trafford to potentially deny their neighbours a place in the EFL Cup Final with the return leg to come. City look likely to have to settle for the runner-up spot in the Premier League this season unless Liverpool’s wheels fall off, so the pressure could be on United who are hoping to be playing some sort of European football next season.

Everton vs Liverpool – March 14

Merseyside derbies are rarely dull… unless Everton play for a draw. The two teams have already played a 5-2 thriller at Anfield this season, whilst even the Liverpool kids beat Everton’s first team in the third round of the FA Cup. Everton will want revenge, but there’s talk of Liverpool being able to wrap up the Premier League title in March.

Manchester City vs Liverpool – April 4

Liverpool may well have wrapped up the Premier League by now but, just in case Manchester United end Liverpool’s unbeaten run and Liverpool’s wheels start falling off, this could be a tweaky-bum-moment. I’m not convinced, but you never know what will happen when a team is trying to win their first Premier League title.
