Horse Racing Free Tips For Ascot

There’s a great card at Ascot on Saturday with the Grade 1 JLT Long Walk Hurdle supported by a trio of televised big handicaps. Check out our Long Walk Hurdle free tip, as well as our free tips for the My Pension Expert Handicap Chase, the Garrard Silver Cup Handicap Chase, and the Betfair Exchange Trophy.
A tricky looking handicap, with most of the runners having questions to answer, but a chance is taken on Overtown Express. Trainer Harry Fry likes to have winners at this meeting and his stable looks in decent form having bagged a couple of winners already this week. However, what really makes Overtown Express look a bet is his record when fresh, which includes 10-length victories first time out in both 2016 and 2018.

Plenty of horses have won the Long Walk Hurdle more than once including hat-tricks for both Big Bucks and Reve De Sivola in the last 10 years. However, no winner in the last decade has been older than eight and the 2016 winner Unowhatimeanharry is now 10. Despite winning at Newbury last time, he also has to race off level-weights here, whilst he was getting weight from most of his rivals on that occasion. The other horse trying to win the race for the second time is Sam Spinner and, though he ran poorly on his seasonal debut, he did improve a lot for his first run last season before winning last year’s renewal on his third start of the season. The downside is his stable isn’t in the greatest of form. However, with the ground already riding soft to heavy, it could be worth chancing the mud-loving Agrapart. He has a lot of similarities with the stable’s three-time winner Reve De Sivola and should absolutely relish a race that could turn into a real war of attrition in the closing stages.

Agrapart (Each-Way) @ 6.50 WilliamHill, Coral, 10Bet (3 places)
Gold Present won last year’s renewal of a 5lb lower park but, with the second Frodon winning the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup off a 13lb higher mark already this season and the third Walk In The Mill winning The Becher Chase, there’s every chance he’s still well-handicapped. He also put up a very pleasing season debut over a shorter trip at Ascot behind the high-class pair Politologue and Charbel. The softer ground is a bit of worry but, as connections think he could be a Grand National horse, stamina shouldn’t be an issue.
Garrard Silver Cup Handicap Chase Free Tip:
Gold Present (Each-Way) @ 6.00 Betfair SB, PaddyPower (4 places)
Alan King has three runners in this lucrative handicap hurdle and it’s interesting that Wayne Hutchinson has chosen to ride the progressive Lisp, despite riding Chatez to finish a close second over course and distance earlier this season, whilst Fidux who won over course and distance earlier in the season. Fidux beat Global Citizen that day, who beat Lisp last time, so Hutchinson must think Lisp is currently the best handicapped of King’s trio. He’s also proven on soft and heavy going and should go close.
