Gunners May Fire Another Blank – Premier League

As predicted in last week’s column, Arsenal couldn’t manage to beat Stoke, and the statistics suggest that it may well be worth taking them on again this week as they play host to Chelsea. It’s a tough-looking week overall in the Premier League this week, but I’m also recommending bets for Manchester United vs Southampton, West Brom vs Villa, and West Ham vs Manchester City.

Gunners Premier League

Manchester United vs Southampton (Saturday 3pm)

The past 3 renewals suggest that Southampton aren’t without hope here after winning at Old Trafford last season and drawing the previous season, but their current Premier League away form is appalling after 4 straight defeats at the hands of Manchester City, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Norwich. Meanwhile, despite not being the team they once was, Manchester United are just 7 points off Arsenal and Leicester at the top and, after looking like they might be turning the corner – 37/40 for a United win doesn’t look too bad.

Manchester United @ 37/40 (Betvictor)

West Brom vs Villa (Saturday 3pm)

Villa have just started showing a few signs of life, and 2 draws in their last 3 away games will have them believing they can get something from their travels to West Brom. They haven’t won here in their last 4 tries though, but have drawn twice, and the draw has to be the value-bet.

Draw @ 12/5 (Betfred)

West Ham vs Manchester City (Saturday 3pm)

West Ham have a remarkable record against the big clubs this season, and the 9/2 for them to beat Man City at home is quite insulting. They won last year’s renewal, and have only lost 2 of the last 6 renewals, winning 2 of those 6. It’s tempting to lay City at odds-on, but that 9/2 for a West Ham victory is just too tempting.

West Ham @ 9/2 (Marathon Bet)

Arsenal vs Chelsea (Sunday 4pm)

The case for the draw is an obvious one as 3 of the last 4 renewals have ended 0-0 (Chelsea won the other one). Okay, so Chelsea are a shadow of the team from the last 4 years, but they’ve also drawn 2 of their last 4 away game (also 0-0), and a draw would be an acceptable result for them. With so many 0-0 results flying about, the 11/1 for that score line is also to big to resist.

Draw @ 5/2 (Various)

Correct Score 0-0 @ 11/1 (Skybet)
