Greyhound Racing Preview – 20th, 21st & 22nd May

All eyes will be on Romford this evening as the Coral owned London road venue stages thirteen competitive open races over a variety of distances, with 225 metre sprints, 400 standard, 575 six bend and even a 750 metre marathon on the show it promises to be a cracker!

Greyhound Racing Preview

The PGT free Friday tip this week is Johns Present who lines up from T1 in the six bend open race at 10.26 over the 575 meter trip at Romford. The Paul Young trained railer has been keeping very good company of late over four bends recently and is an interesting runner tonight now stepped back up to six bends. Our selection won well over course and distance back in January when he recorded a 13.92 sectional and 35.77 clock, a repeat of that would make him very competitive in this race from a plot draw. As the solo railer in the race Johns Present should enjoy a clear run into the first corner, lead round and he will take all the beating. Swift Whirlwind looks the obvious danger from T5, it’s imperative that we hold that rival in the first corner and get on the bunny.

A little earlier on look out for Millstreettrixie who runs from T3 in the Friday night 500 sprint final at 9.06 over the two bend trip of 225 metres. The early paced middle seed looks well house with main rival Bolsjio Booze on her outside, if ‘Trixie’ pings and repeats the flying 13.55 run that she clocked last week she can take this race. As ever over the sprint trip the break and run into the first corner will be vital, lead round and it should be all over bar the shouting.

Over at Sunderland, Steady Girl is worth noting in the market when the youngster lines up from T6 in the A2 graded race at 10.03 over the standard four bend trip of 450 metres. The September 14 daughter of Skywalker Gold has been showing decent all round pace in her races recently and looks one to follow at Sunderland as she works her way through the grades.

Saturday – 2016 Third Round Heats Live On Sky Sports from Wimbledon

On Saturday evening, the third round of the 2016 William Hill greyhound derby takes centre stage live from Wimbledon on Sky Sports. Outright and heat betting is available with sponsors William Hills, each way terms for outright honours is currently a quarter the odds and first four in the final.

Old Joe Golden (T6) looks well drawn in the first heat at 7.11 and with one of his better breaks the Charlie Lister trained wide seed can make all and book his place in the next round. Blue Cafu (T1) and Ballymac Brogan (T5) rate as the main danger, with level breaks they will be huge runners.

Jaytee Dutch impressed in the last round and granted a clear run on Saturday night the Paul Hennessy trained Irish raider can take the 7.26 from T1. The key to the race will be the break and run into the first corner, avoid an early bump and Dutch can hit the front down the back straight and take this race.

A little later on look out for Southfield Jock who lines up from T3 in the fourth heat of the 2016 William Hill greyhound derby at 7.59. The Seamus Cahill trained runner is drawn a little nearer the rails than normal here and is likely to edge off at trap rise but if he avoids On Alert (T4) he should hit the front and pull clear down the back straight, on the bunny he’s a class act and will take all the beating.

At 8.16 look out for the flying machine that is Jaytee Jet who runs from T6 for Paul Hennessy. As the solo wide seed in the race ‘Jet’ should enjoy a clear run throughout and hit the front late on, don’t expect to see Jaytee Jet early on but watch out for his finishing kick.

Sunday – Henlow live on Racing Post Greyhound Tv

On Sunday evening the RPGTV camera’s move onto Henlow for a card full of competitive open racing. The feature races are the David Naughton Memorial Super Sprint semi-finals which take place at 8.15, 8.30 and 8.46. Two from each heat will qualify for next week’s final.

The first semi final at 8.15 can go to Mays Teejay from T2. The Towcester raider looks well drawn to lead at the rails and once on the bunny he should hold off the late challengers.

The second semi final at 8.30 looks wide open but at a price it could be worth taking a chance on Lughill Bee who runs from T1. Look out for prices from Betfair and Bet365 on Sunday afternoon.

The third and final semi final at 8.46 can go to crack sprinter Daytime Flyer who runs from T4. Beaten into second on his last two runs over c&d ‘Flyer’ is yet to break his Henlow maiden tag, but with one of his better breaks he can hit the front early on and take this race.
