Greyhound punters have plenty to get stuck into this weekend with cracking action tonight from Sunderland and Romford while on Saturday evening Wimbledon will be taking centre stage with the Champion Hurdle, Derby Plate and 2015 Derby Final live on Sky Sports.
The PGT Free Friday tip comes from Sunderland tonight in the shape of Calzaghe Lisa from T1 in the 8.58 six bend race over the 640 meter trip.
The Youngster from the Ted Soppitt kennel has only recently stepped up to six bends and the lightly raced daughter of Westmead Hawk can put her plot draw to use and lead round the first bend and kick for home. The key to the race is the break, we need to hold Blackhouse Heidi (T2) at trap rise as that rival can show decent early gears. Magical Reid beat our selection last time out but now drawn in T5 the Newcastle raider might find early bother. Jimmy Nailed On (T6) is well drawn and rates as the danger to our selection.
PGT FREE FRIDAY TIP – CALZAGHE LISA – 8.58 SUNDERLAND
Over at Romford look out for Slick Supreme from T6 in the 9.06 Sprint Final over the 225 meter trip, the lightly raced wide seed won well last week and looks well drawn to follow up tonight. Other notable runners on the card are El Pedro (T1, 9.40) on six bend debut for the Hutton kennel and a little later on course and distance specialist Adageo Bob will be hard to beat from T6 in the final race on the card at 10.40.
Saturday – Wimbledon live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
What a card we have to get stuck into on Saturday evening with three finals on the card including the Champion Hurdle, Derby plate and the Derby final itself at 9.08.
The Champion Hurdle looks wide open and alot will depend on the break and run into the first corner. Razldazlnewstalk (T2) won well last time out in the heats but would of prefered to be drawn in T1 and might struggle to clear Jetsteam Reason (T1) at trap rise. Alittlelesslip (T4) looks well drawn as the solo middle seed and has a chance with one of his better breaks.
The Derby plate final at 8.51 is a cracker, an interesting runner is Ibiza Rocks – will the early paced railer hold the rails into the first bend and make all from T1?. Aclamon Messi beat Ibiza Rocks in the heats last week but with Old Joe Golden on his immediate outside he might face a pace dual into the first bend and that could hand the advantage to a runner on inside of the track. In a wide open final most will fancy thier chances, good luck to all trainers and connections with a runner.
The 2015 William Hill Greyhound Derby Final can go to the Irish raider in T2 – Farloe BLitz. The son of Premier Fantasy has done nothing wrong in the competition to date and looks the likely leader and winner if he traps in best fashion. The key will be clearing Rio Quattro (T1) at trap rise – do that and it’s race on. Making Paper (T3) is a credit to his connections and trainer and has a chance with a smash break. Track record holder Eden The Kid (T4) has surprised a few during the competition but fully deserves his place in the final and if he manages to overcome what could be a tricky draw he would be a danger to all as the son of former derby hero Westmead Hawk stays the trip very well. Millwards Davy (T5) and Tynwald Bish (T6) will both need to break in best fashion – will it happen?, who knows with the Derby roar in full voice anything is possible.
Good luck to all involved in the 2015 William Hill Greyhound Derby Final – it should be a cracker!
