RacingPost Greyhound TV is live from Crayford and Wimbledon tonight on sky channel 212 from 7.15pm, the show is hosted by Julie Collier and she is joined in the studio by Phil Donaldson from the Racing Post and broadcaster Paul Lawrence.
The excellent Wimbledon card feature’s the William Hill St Leger with heats getting underway at 7.25, there are 8 heats in total with each one very competitive with the top six bend runners from Ireland and England looking to progress through to the next round. Over at Crayford a total of twelve races – mostly graded action with just the one open race for punters to get stuck into.
The first heat to preview is the 7.25 where Paul Young’s TEEJAYSPOWERHAWK is fancied to lead round and go clear from T3, the Romford youngster has never run over the trip before so stamina has to be taken on trust but the running style of the dog and a recent win over the 575 meter trip at Romford suggests the trip will be ideal, once on the bunny the son of Derby winner Westmead Hawk will be hard to beat. Fear Emoski is a class act and rates as a danger from T1.
CHICAGO (T1 7.54) is another dog recently stepped up to the six bend trip and the former William Hill puppy Derby finalist seems to have taken to it very well making all on his last two runs at Hove, the long run up to the first bend here should suit and with his four bend speed he should build up a good advantage. He’s not the strongest off the last bend so you would want a clear lead heading home, Droopys Bear won well last time out and look’s a top prospect, Farley Rio is respect having run well in the Doncaster St leger recently.
The value selection of the night runs in the 8.10 from T2 HOLYOAK LAELAPS, potentaily well drawn with little early pace either side the pacey daughter of Droopys Maldini can grab the rails and kick on, the slight concern will be fittness as this will be his first competitive run since August. Roxholme Dream from T4 is respected stepping up in trip, over in T6 eight bend superstar King Kane will be looking to turn handy and use his all round pace to qualify.
AIRMOUNT PACO looks the likely leader in the 8.26 race from T3 and the Jimmy Wright Newcastle raider can make the long journey worth it with a trap to line victory, the selection won well twice recently at Newcastle making all over the slightly shoter 670 meter distance, blessed with early pace and staying power the dog should go far in the competition.
The best bet on the card is in the heat at 9.15 from T1 BALLYMAC BONNIE, the daughter of Head Bound will be making her English début here but if reproducing her Irish form she will be very hard to beat, holding the pacey Racenight Jenny early will be the key to the race. Jet Stream Duke from T6 is also respect now stepped upto a genuine six bend trip having run well around the tight 575 meter trip at Romford during the Champion stakes in August.
