The Sussex Cup is one of the premier competitions during the course of the year. The first round heats are Thursday night at Hove.

The 2nd heat of the competition sees Droppys Jarrow get the tip. It’s a tough heat with Derby winner Salad Dodger in opposition along with the smart Blackstone Marco plus a couple of other dogs lightly raced on these shores. The five is the only one looking outclassed with the three and four both moving left from trap rise, Droopys Jarrow might just avoid the trouble and once on the bunny he shouldn’t be caught.

Betting Tip – Trap 6 Droopys Jarrow

It has taken a while for the penny to drop with Droopys Norris but he turned a corner at Wimbledon on Derby night when rocketing home by five lengths. This isn’t the easiest draw to work from with Guinness Spark going up fast on his inside but this should at least keep him at a more backable price than might otherwise have been the case.

Betting Tip – Trap 3 Droopys Norris

The puppies race holds an interesting one in Snappers Lad. He has only been successful in one of his seven outings so far but there is no early pace to trouble him to his inside so even a moderate break should see him turn handy. He stays every inch of this stiff four bends and given natural improvement should have too much for these.

Betting Tip – Trap 3 Snappers Lad

Evanta Evita has been a revelation in the past month winning her latest five starts. Her trapping is nigh on automatic while her times have been improving everytime we have seen her at Hove on her last three runs. The slowest of those three would probably still be enough in this field and while she will be short enough she can prove the cornerstone to any multiples on the card.

Betting Tip – Trap 4 Evanta Evita
