Greyhound Racing Preview – 6th, 7th & 8th May
Published on 06/05/16
All eyes will be on Wimbledon this evening as the Plough Lande venue stages heats 14 to 26 of the 2016 William Hill greyhound derby. All the action will be live on RPGTV Sky channel 468 from 7.15pm.
The PGT free Friday selection for this week is Newlawn Ned who lines up from T6 in heat number seventeen at 8.10. Draws win races and Ned looks plotted up here as the solo wide seed and with a level break he will prove hard to beat. As ever the break and run into the first corner will be vital, lead round or turn level and it’s race on down the back straight.
PGT FREE FRIDAY SELECTION – NEWLAWN NED – T6 – 8.10 Wimbledon
A little later on look out for Ballymac Brogan (T5) in the 8.26 derby heat from Wimbledon. The Seamus Cahill trained Hove raider looks the likely race leader and once on the bunny it should be all over bar the shouting down the back straight.
Another that could go well is Fire Height Tosh who runs from T1 at 10.18 heat number twenty five of this years greyhound derby first round heats. Tosh was a little below his best at the start of this calender year but a recent layoff might of worked the oracle and recent sprint trails suggest all is well and he could be one to watch tonight. Look out for market support for this one, any significant market moves should be noted.
Over ar Romford Friday sprint final at 9.24 can go to the Phil Simmonds trained Bolshoi Booze who lines up for the race from T5. The early paced middle seed has been in flying form of late and looks the one to beat here.
Saturday – Wimbledon live on Racing Post Greyhound Tv
On Saturday evening the Racing Post Greyhound Tv camera’s return to Plough lane for heats twenty-seven to thirty-nine. One that looks well drawn and could be worth supporting is Dortoas Tiger who runs from T1 in heat number thirty-two at 8.42 on Saturday night. The Kevin Hutton trained Towcester raider is currently 11/8 with derby sponsors William Hill and that price is sure to tempt a few in based on this plot draw. Dorotas Tiger should enjoy a clear run into the first corner and if he manages to lead off the second bend he will prove hard to peg back.
Sunday – Henlow live on Racing Post Greyhound Tv
As ever the final RPGTV show of the week will be from Henlow on Sunday evening, all the action will be live on Sky channel 468 from 6.15pm, join the panel for all the latest derby news, market movers and non runner information.
The two feature races on Sunday from Henlow are the dual distance final at 8.15 over the 460 metre trip and the midi final at 8.45 over 550 metres.
One that could go well in the midi final at 8.45 is Swift Edwards who runs from T1 for Towcester trainer Pam Dolby. Swift Edwards bolted up over course and distance last week and a repeat of that 8.87 sectional and 33.48 clock will make him the one to beat here. The key to victory will be holding the rails into the first corner, with the likes of Savana Minstrel (T2), Garryglass Pixie (T3) and Urban Road (T4) in opposition Swift Edwards can not afford a slow start.
