What a weekend of greyhound racing we have in prospect, tonight we have Romford and Sunderland live in Racing Post Greyhound Tv, on Saturday evening all eyes will be on Wimbledon as the Plough lane venue stages the 2016 William Hill greyhound derby and the RPGTV racing week concludes on Sunday evening with competitive racing from Henlow.
The PGT Friday selection for this week is Savana Razzle who runs from T2 in the stayers open race at 8.50 from Romford over the six bend 575 metre trip. The Jason Ray trained Henlow raider looks ideally drawn to lead round and once on the bunny he will prove hard to beat. Earlier this year Savana Razzle recorded a decent 13.81 sectional and 35.54 clock over course and distance, a repeat of that should be good enough to take this race. The key to the victory will be the break and run into the first corner, lead round and it’s race on.
PGT FREE FRIDAY SELECTION – SAVANA RAZZLE – T2 – 8.50 Romford
A little later on look out for Newland Ned who runs from T6 in the maiden stayers race 9.56 from Romford. Ned has been keeping very good company of late during the 2016 William Hill greyhound derby at Wimbledon, although eliminated last week he ran with credit throughout the competition and is clearly running very well at the moment. Tonight on six bend debut he’s a very interesting runner, look out for market support for this one throughout the day.
Over at Sunderland keep an eye on Keel Anvil (T2) in the A3 graded race at 8.10 over the standard four bend trip of 450 metres. The July 14 youngster bolted up last time out and won by over ten lengths, surprisingly she has only given a one grade rise and she could be well in tonight if she breaks in best fashion.
Saturday – 2016 Greyhound Derby Final live on Sky Sports
On Saturday evening all eyes will be on Wimbledon for the final of the 2016 William Hill greyhound derby. Jaytee Jet (T6) is a worthy favourite based on the plot draw and if he gets a clear run he will prove very hard to beat. PGT derby outright selection Peregrine Falcon runs from T4 and will need a flyer from the traps to lead with pace either side, but if Falcon does manage to get on the bunny it’s race on at huge odds.
A little earlier on look out for Roxholme Magic (T6) in the marathon open race at 8.16 over the 894 metre trip. Magic is unlikely to be a betting proposition as she will be long odds-on, but she’s worth watching as she is a staying superstar. Don’t expect to see Roxholme Magic up with the pace early on but look out for her staying power late on, she’s a flying machine over these marathon trips.
