Greyhound Racing Preview : 16th – 18th October
Racing Post Greyhound TV is live from Romford and Sunderland this evening, there are twenty five races in total with a variety of distances on show. At Romford we have two, four and six bend races to try and work out, while over at Sunderland they have even thrown handicaps into the mix alongside the normal four bend graded action – theres a bit of something for everyone tonight on RPGTV.
The PGT preview selection for tonight is NEDS OPINION who runs from T2 in the 8.02 at Romford over the sprint trip of 225 meters. The Paul Young trained son of Definate Opinion was an unlucky loser over course and distance last Friday when beaten a head by Killoughteen Pat after been forced to check at the first bend, if our selection breaks in best fashion tonight he can grab the rails and make all over a course and distance that suits. The key to the race will be the break and run into the first corner, we need to clear the pace inside and hold Blue Bees Bolt (T4) into the first corner, do that and Neds Opinion can reward his backers and land the prize money for his connections.
PGT FREE FRIDAY SELECTION – NEDS OPINION – T2 – 8.02 Romford
A little later on look out for Millwards Master from T1 in the 10.11 open race over the six bend 575 meter trip. The 2014 Coral Champion Stakes winner will be making his track comeback tonight following a lengthy layoff, recently trials over the four and six bend trips suggest all is well and he could be one to watch in the market. It is however a very competitive race with the likes of Farneys Cookie (T3), Soviet Kenny (T4) and Fivestar Clipper (T5) all more than capable of taking a race like this on a going day.
Saturday – Crayford and Newcastle live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
RPGTV moves onto Newcastle and Crayford on Saturday evening, the feature race is the 2015 Carlsberg Kent St Leger Final from Crayford at 9.24. Droopys Tamera (T6) is around the 4/7 mark with bookmakers to land the £2500 prize money and it’s hard to see past the Dean Childs trained runner if she breaks well from what looks an ideal draw. Wiki Waki Woo (T2) won the 2015 Ladbrokes Golden Jacket over course and distance back in February and she could be the one to challenge the favourite early on. Droopys Doonbeg (T3) is lightly raced and she looks the interesting runner in the race, the daughter of Westmead Hawk went well in the heats and would be a danger to all if trapping well on Saturday night.
Sunday – Henlow live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
All eyes will be on Henlow on Sunday evening as the RPGTV Derby semi finals take place at 8.30, 8.45 and 9.00 over the standard four bend trip of 460 meters at Henlow. On that appeals based on a plot draw is Forest Sara from T6 in the first semi final at 8.30, the Kevin Hutton trained daughter of Droopys Scolari looks plotted up in T6 with a tight railer drawn in T5 (Express Master), If Sara breaks well and turns with the likely race leader (You Never Listen, T2) its race on down the back straight.
Outright betting is available with most online firms, Making Paper is a general 5/1 favourite with Fire Height Tosh at 6/1, El Lema are You Never Listen are next in at 10/1. The current each way terms for the competition are first three places in the final and a 1/4 the odds.
Thanks for reading the PGT greyhound preview for this weekend’s action – good luck whatever you decide to back.
