All eyes will be on Romford this evening as the London road venue stages a decent mixed card featuring the 2016 Coral Essex Vase semi-finals. Catch all the action live on Sky channel 468 from 7.15pm.
The PGT free Friday selection for this week is Swift Hansel who lines up from T3 in the second Essex Vase semi-final at 9.06. The Nottingham raider caught the eye last time out when he showed decent pace throughout and looked a future winner over course and distance. Tonight from what looks a decent draw the middle seed has a chance to lead round or turn very handy and granted a clear run the August 14 son of Godsend should go very close.
PGT FREE FRIDAY SELECTION – SWIFT HANSEL – T4 – 9.06 Romford
The first semi-final at 8.50 looks at the mercy of Roswell Romanov from T1. The Mark Wallis trained Towcester raider is a class act over course and distance and with anything like a clear run he should take this race and book his place in next week’s final .
The third semi-final at 9.24 looks a wide open affair and it could be all on the break, whichever greyhound manages to lead round will take all the beating. Slight preference is for Bubbly Torpedo from T5, the Champagne Club owned greyhound ran well last week on only his second appearance since August and is likely to close if breaking in best fashion this evening.
Over at Sunderland one to note in the market is Tom Tom Charlie who lines up from T6 in the handicap race at 9.48. The November 13 son of Ninja Jamie is a class act in these type of races and he will take all the beating this evening if he avoids trouble down the back straight and at the third bend.
Saturday – Crayford and Newcastle live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
On Saturday evening one to look out for is Phat Phoebe who runs from T3 in the Crayford bookmakers stayers stakes race at 9.24 over the eight bend 714 metre trip. The middle seed won well over the stamina zapping 874 metre trip last week and looks the one to beat here. The key to victory will be avoiding and early bump, lead round or turn with the pace and it’s race on.
At 10.11 2016 Guys and Dolls winner Brick Mansions makes his return to graded action in A1 class over the 380 metre trip. The wide seeded runner ran well last week in open company and is sure to appreciate this drop into graded class on Saturday. If Brick Mansions is a decent price he’s certainly one to consider as a betting proposition.
Sunday – Henlow live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
On Sunday evening the Henlow Xmas Cesarewitch and Xmas Crakcer heats take centre stage live on RPGTV. Join the panel on Frontrunner TV Sky channel 468 from 6.15pm for all the latest greyhound racing news, race previews and market mover information.
On that appeals at this early stage and is worth a second look in the market is Willy Whitesocks from T6 in the 6.45 open race over the 550 metre trip. Drawn as the solo seeded greyhound in the race Willy Whitesocks looks well drawn and if he traps out in best fashion he should lead round and kick clear of the chasing pack, on the bunny he’s a class sort and will take all the beating.
