Phil Set To Thrill At Pebble Beach – Golf Betting Tips
The AT & T Pebble Beach on the PGA Tour looks the place to concentrate our efforts this week, and this pro-am tournament is played on a course that has hosted several big major championships.
Such is the prestige it carries, none of the big-guns will be taking it easy this week, and Jordan Spieth and Jason Day are playing. Spieth has finished 4 and 7th in the last two years, whilst Day also went close when 4th last year but, whilst neither can be ruled out, I’d much sooner rather support a couple of course specialists who look to be in the form to make a bold big to win this tournament again. I’m also finishing this week’s portfolio with a couple of top-10 bets.
2 points each-way Phil Mickleson @ 22/1 (Various bookmakers) ¼ odds 5 places
Phil the Thrill is playing well enough to thrill his fans by lifting this title for a fifth time. His recent form of 3/MC/11 doesn’t really tell just how well he’s been playing tee-to-green., whilst his short-game looks as razor-sharp as ever. Back on one of his favourite courses, he’s likely to make a bold bid to notch another win, and he’ll want to do that to improve on his world ranking of 29th with the Ryder Cup firmly on his agenda.
2 points each-way Jimmy Walker @ 18/1 (Stan James) ¼ odds 6 places
Walker won this tournament in 2014 and, though he could only manage to finish 21st last year when defending, his 5-year form figures read 9/9/3/1/21. His current form is also pretty decent 8/10/13/4, and he looked the likely winner at Torrey Pines 2 weeks ago until blown-off course by the high winds.
1 Point Top-10 Chesson Haddley @ 14/1 (Various Bookmakers)
Having finished 58th and 60th on his last two starts, the case for backing Chesson Haddley is not an obvious one. However, he’s come into the last two renewals having missed his two previous cuts, and finished 10th on both occasions. Last year, he also double bogeyed the last hole when most players were making birdie, and this cost him a share of 6th place.
1 Point Top-10 Bryce Molder @ 10/1 (BetVictor)
10/6/69/12/10/34 are Molder’s recent performances here and, having finished top-10 in half of those 6 starts, it’s easy to see why 10/1 for another top-10 finish looks a value bet. He also played well last week when finishing 6th.
