Levy Can Master The BMW – Golf Betting Tips

The BMW Masters is the third-leg of the Race To Dubai Final Series and, though current Race To Dubai Leader Rory McIlroy sits this one out as he prepares himself to win next week’s final event – it still looks a decent field.

There’s been lots of rain in China recently so the Masters Course at Lake Malaren Golf Club in Shanghai is expected to play all of it’s 7,594 yards, and it’s therefore difficult to see many if any of the shorter-hitters getting into contention this week. There’s also plenty of room off the tee – which is really playing into the big-hitters hands.

Justin Rose heads the betting this week but, though he has two decent finished to his name in this event, quotes of around 8/1 aren’t of much interest. Henrik Stenson is next in at 12/1 and, though I’ll be keeping an eye on him, I don’t expect to see his “A” Game until he bids for a Dubai hat-trick next week.

The first player on my radar this week is Alexander Levy who would surely have won this trophy last year except for seriously strong winds on the last day. No such weather is forecast this week, he showed a glimpse of form last-time out in finishing 18th, and he just loves playing on a soft course such as the one he won in Portugal last season.

Next up is Shane Lowry who finished 5th here in 2012 (24th and 16th since) and he’s fancied to challenge here despite only finishing 68th last week. Anyone can have a bad week, but his length of the tee and great short game should see him score plenty of birdies and keep the bogeys to a minimum here.

Byeong Hun An is another with plenty of length off the tee, and his 4th and 19th placed finishes in the first two events suggest he’s certainly in good enough form to add to his PGA victory at Wentworth earlier in the year. That was also sponsored by BMW – so it could be a good sign.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat really doesn’t seem to have got the credit he deserves for playing some great golf this season, and 50/1 for the big-hitting Thai is an insult in my book. He might not have played the event before but, as Levy hadn’t last year, there’s no reason he won’t take to it straight away.

The final spot in this week’s betting portfolio goes to Ross Fisher, and there’s definite signs that the former Ryder Cup player can take a title soon. 3rd last week, he was also 2nd in this event last year, and those combined experiences could see him go close at 50/1
