US Masters Top American Free Tips 2019

One of the most popular markets at the 2019 US Masters outside of the outright market is the Top American market. That’s because it allows punters to pick which American they think will do best, with the winner being the American who finishes highest on the leaderboard, regardless of whether he gets beaten by players from Europe or any other countries that are represented.

Check out our stats, analysis, and free tips for the 2019 US Masters Top American market.

US Masters Top American 2019 Contenders

Dustin Johnson

As the highest ranked American in the field and a dual-winner already this season, DJ deserves to be favourite in the Top American market. However, whilst his US Masters performances have improved on his last three visits to Augusta, he’s still only finished third twice in this market in the last four years, so probably doesn’t offer any value.

Tiger Woods

After missing the 2016 and 2017 editions of the US Masters, Tiger returned to finish 32nd last year, and has gone from strength-to-strength since. He played some great golf at the WGC Matchplay two-weeks ago and he’s certainly capable of going close. However, a fade off the tee has never been ideal at Augusta and that’s the shape he hits with his driver nowadays.

Justin Thomas

He’s shown progressive-form of 39/22/17 in three Masters appearances but has yet to even hit the places in this market. Will probably conquer Augusta one day but there looks to better value elsewhere.

Jordan Spieth

Has been the most consistent American at the last five Masters tournaments, finishing no worse than eleventh. That was good enough to win him this market twice, whilst he’s also finished second, third, and tied-fourth in the other three. Hard to leave out but he’s yet to hit top-form this season.

Rickie Fowler

Yet to win this market but has placed in it three times in the last five years. He’s likely to go close again this year as he’s shown winning-form already this season and his stats suggest he set for another good performance.

Brooks Koepka

Missed last year’s tournament but, like Justin Thomas, has shown progressive-form here without landing any bets in this market. Could do this year but is another that has been inconsistent so far this season.

Bubba Watson

Bubba has won the Masters twice in the last seven years, obviously winning this market as well, whilst he was fourth in it last year. Not won so far this season, which he has when playing well here in the past.

Bryson DeChambeau

The scientist will surely work this place out before long but he’s not challenged on his previous two visits, despite making the cut both times.

Tony Finau

Tenth on debut last year saw him just miss out on hitting the frame in this market, but suggested that he has the game to contest here. The negative is he’s not currently playing his best golf.

Phil Mickelson

Would have been long odds-on to hit the frame in this throughout most of his career but, despite finishing second in this market in 2015, the 48-year-old has been down the field on his last three visits.

Matt Kuchar

Kuch has been in the form of his life this season and he won this market in 2017, whilst also finishing third in 2014. May not have the bottle to win the tournament outright but could easily land each-way bets in this.

Patrick Reed

The 2018 winner is passed over because defending champions tend to struggle.

Charley Hoffman

Tied for fourth in this market in 2015 and led the field after round one in 2017. He also shot some seriously low numbers from Friday to Sunday at last week’s Valero Texas Open and he could have timed his return to form to perfection. Big odds and might reward each-way support, at least.

US Masters Top American 2019 Verdict

It would be no great surprise if DJ, Tiger, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, and Jordan Spieth features, but the value could be elsewhere.

Rickie Fowler looks the best value near the head of the market, whilst Kuchar is playing far too well to be ignored at prices of 20/1 or more. Hoffman’s from last week also entitles him to respect at bigger odds than he should be.
