Golf Betting Tips: Bank On Bubba In HSBC

Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickleson may unfortunately be missing, along with last year’s champion Dustin Johnson, but there is still a great field assembled for the WGC HSBC Champions in China, the second leg of the Race to Dubai.

World No.6 Justine Rose heads the market at 12/1 after last week’s tied 4th place finish, whilst World No.3 Sergio Garcia is 16/1 after blowing yet another great opportunity in Malaysia last weekend. Respectively 5th and 4th in the 2013 renewal, both have outstanding each-way chances but aren’t offering much in the way of value.

The next three in the market are the top-class trio of Adam Scott, Henrik Stenson and Martin Kaymer though neither Scott nor Stenson have shown any great liking for the course, whilst Kaymer has struggled to raise his game since to the level it was when winning both this year’s Players Championship and the US Open.

This leads us nicely to double US Masters Champion Bubba Watson who shot four rounds in the 60s on his way to finishing 8th here last year on a course that should ideally suit his eye. Backing Watson can often be a roller-coaster ride of emotions – but 28/1 looks the best value of the market leaders.

Next up are two world-class South Africans with enough course form to warrant inclusion in this week’s staking plan, Charl Schwartzel (40/1) and Louis Oosthuisen (66/1). Schwartzel warmed up with 19th in Malaysia last week and has finished 6/14/4 on his last three visits here, whilst the sublime swinging Oosthuisen has finished 7th and 15th here on his last two visits and is too good to keep out of the winner’s enclosure for much longer.

Another player who must surely chalk up another victory soon is the supremely talented Victor Dubuisson (40/1) who has all the attributes to master this layout, despite not having played here before.

1.5 points each-way Bubba Watson @ 28/1

1 point each-way Charl Scwartzel @ 40/1

1 point each-way Louis Oosthuisen @ 66/1

1 point each-way Victor Dubuisson @ 40/1

Top-10 Market

Lee Westwood may not be the force he once was but he’s making all the right noises about climbing back up the world rankings after slipping to No.45, and he can take a step in the right direction by finishing in the top-10 here at 9/2

2 points Lee Westwood Top-10 finish @ 9/2

*Story of Last Week*

As four-shot overnight leader Alexander Levy blew up in the wind, each-way selection Jamie Donaldson blew a great opportunity to claim another title, as Marcel Siem eventually claimed the trophy after a play-off. However, Donaldson’s tied 4th at least meant we broke even on the week.

Let’s hope this week’s golf betting tips can do even better!
