There are just two rounds of games to go in this season’s Premier League but loads of teams still have something to play for.
Cardiff will join Huddersfield and Fulham in the Championship next season if they fail to beat Crystal Palace, whilst they’ll still go down if Brighton manage to beat Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will be hoping to keep the pressure on Man City with a win at Newcastle, whilst Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United are all still trying to secure a top-four spot.
Check out our analysis and free tips for Bournemouth vs Tottenham, Cardiff vs Crystal Palace, Newcastle vs Liverpool, Arsenal vs Brighton, Huddersfield vs Manchester United, and Chelsea vs Watford.
Bournemouth vs Tottenham (Saturday 12.30)
Tottenham’s Champions League dream may be in trouble after their 1-0 home defeat by Ajax on Tuesday, but they can book their ticket into next year’s competition with a victory at Bournemouth this Saturday.
Tottenham are hardly certainties after four defeats in their last five games, especially as they’re struggling for goals. However, they have dominated most of their past fixtures against Bournemouth, winning eight of nine games since Bournemouth were promoted, including four comprehensive away-wins. That makes Tottenham look decent value at a shade of odds-on with most bookies.
Cardiff vs Crystal Palace (Saturday 5.30)
Only a win will keep Cardiff’s dream of playing Premier League football season alive but, having failed to score in four of their last five games, there has to be a chance that this will be the end of the road. The reverse fixture at Crystal Palace earlier this season ended 0-0 and the bad news for Cardiff is Crystal Palace have improved since then. It’s a result that’s hard to call but, with nothing to lose by attacking, it may be a game that both teams actually defy the odds and get on the scoresheet.
Newcastle vs Liverpool (Saturday 7.45)
Only a faint flicker of Liverpool’s Champions League dream is still burning in the ashes of Wednesday night’s 3-0 in Barcelona and they’ll be desperate to keep their Premier League dreams burning bright with victory at St James’s Park.
Newcastle have been playing better recently and secured their Premier League place for next season quicker than their early-season result suggested they would. However, their shock win over Manchester City at home this season remains the only points they have taken off any top-six side. That means Liverpool should come out on top, but it may be closer than the odds suggest, with Liverpool fancied to win 2-1.
Chelsea vs Watford (Sunday 2.00)
Chelsea need two wins from their final two games to guarantee themselves a top-four spot and they have a good record against Watford. However, recent results suggest it could be worth ignoring the outright markets and playing in the over/under goals markets. Three of the last four matches between the two sides have produced five, six and seven goals, whilst the other produced three, so a bet on over 3.5 goals could offer a bit of value.
Huddersfield vs Manchester United (Sunday 2.00)
Huddersfield shocked Man United by winning their first Premier League against them, but United have won the following three by two clear goals. However, as this match is on TV, the shop window theory that some of the relegated Huddersfield players will be hoping to catch the eye of some other Premier League teams could apply. After eight straight defeats, it’s still hard to see them winning. However, as United are also struggling, and probably won’t make the Champion League even if they win, odds of around 9/2 for a spirited draw could be worth taking.
Arsenal vs Brighton (Sunday 4.30)
A win for Brighton would guarantee their Premier League survival but, with this game and a final game against Manchester City, they’ll be praying that Cardiff lose to Crystal Palace on Saturday. Arsenal could also do with Chelsea dropping points if they’re to claim a top-four spot, a position they shouldn’t be in, but they’ve now lost their last three Premier League games.
Despite only claiming one point from their last two games at Brighton, Arsenal did win the corresponding fixture last season 2-0. Brighton are also really struggling for goals, and Arsenal could win this to nil.
