Manchester City eased into the outright lead in the Premier League last weekend, but are the only one of the title contenders to face fellow top-flight opposition this weekend as they entertain neighbours Manchester United in the Manchester Derby. We’ve Manchester Derby free tips, as well as free tips for Newcastle vs Bournemouth and Crystal Palace vs Tottenham.

Newcastle vs Bournemouth (Saturday 15.00)

There’s a chance that last weekend’s first win of the season for Newcastle will have boosted their fragile confidence, but anyone that watched Newcastle’s match against Watford must still be wondering how Watford failed to win given the number of chances they created. Of course, the answer is that Watford missed all those chances, whilst Newcastle grabbed their chance with both hands.

The big question is whether this weekend’s visitors Bournemouth will be as frivolous as Watford. Bournemouth have certainly showed little mercy to teams in their last two away games, beating Fulham 3-0 and Watford 4-0, whilst they were also much the better team in the first-half of their home match against Manchester United. It’s tempting to just go for a Bournemouth win but, as they were in front at half-time and full-time against Fulham and Watford, whilst they also scored first against United, the value-bet may be for Bournemouth to be leading at half-time and full-time.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham (Saturday 17.30)

Crystal Palace have failed to score in three of their last five games, whilst they haven’t managed to breach the Tottenham defence in their last three head to heads, including in the last two renewals of this fixture. Meanwhile, despite no clean sheets for Tottenham in their last five games, they have kept clean sheets in their last three matches against clubs in the bottom eight.

So, the value-bet could be worth backing Tottenham to win to nil. Also, as the last three head-to-heads have all ended up 1-0 to Tottenham, it could be worth a bet on that run continuing.

Manchester City vs Manchester United (Sunday 16.30)

Despite Manchester United’s last gasp win against Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday, the bookies have priced them up as big as 8/1 to leave the Etihad Stadium with three points on Sunday. That’s despite City’s failure to win this fixture in each of the last two seasons. The teams drew 0-0 two seasons ago, whilst United stunned City last season by coming from 2-0 at half-time to score three second-half goals to snatch victory.

That didn’t quite tell the full story though, as City were so dominant in the first-half that they could have easily been four or five goals up at half-time, but for a number of squandered chances by Raheem Sterling.

City’s strikers come into this match in great form though, with 12 goals in their last two matches, three of which have been scored by Sterling, whilst this week’s Champions League hat-trick for Gabriel Jesus should fill him full of confidence if the Brazilian gets the nod on Sunday. However, whilst City’s strikers have been receiving most of the plaudits, it’s almost gone unnoticed that City have conceded just once in their last seven games.

Of course, anything can happen in a Manchester Derby, but City are unlikely to be as generous as they were last year, and they are expected to silence the Old Trafford faithful by winning to nil. Sterling will surely want to put the memory of last year’s misses behind him and could be the player to break the deadlock.
