Free Tips For The 2019 Bet365 Mile

The Bet365 Mile (Friday 26 April) is a Group 2 Race that is run at Sandown. The winner will collect over £56,000 and, since the race began in 1985, notable winners have included Pebbles, Soviet Star, In The Groove, and Paco Boy.

Check out our trends, runner-by-runner guide, and free tips for the 2019 Bet365 Mile.

Bet365 Mile 10-Year-Trends

Nine of the last 10 winners of the Bet365 Mile were aged either four, five, or six, with the other winner being aged eight.

Half of the last 10 runners won this on their seasonal reappearance, but the other half had all had one prep run. The last two winners followed the latter route, whilst three of the last four horses to have had a prep run had won it.

Three of the last four winners were drawn in the highest available stall, whilst the other only had one other horse drawn higher.

Five of the last 10 winners were trained by either Richard Hannon Snr or Richard Hannon Jnr, whilst all of the winners in the last decade were returned at odds of 5/1 or lower.

Bet365 Mile 2019 Runner-By-Runner Guide

Won last year’s renewal on good-to-soft ground, but had enjoyed a winning prep-run when winning the Lincoln Handicap. However, his performances tailed off after that and it remains to be seen as to whether first-time cheekpieces can rejuvenate him. He also looks to have a poor draw in stall 1.

Beat The Bank

Isn’t good enough to make an impact at Group 1 level, but it’s interesting that he has won all three of the Group 2 races he has contested. He contested two races that Addeyb did last year and, though they both finished down the field in hot-contests, the score was 1-1, with Beat The Bank finishing in front of Addeyb the last time they met. His connections have already landed some decent prizes this season, and jockey Silvestre De Souza has won 13 of the 24 races he’s contested for the owners.

Mitchum Swagger

Won a Listed Race at Newmarket last season but has always fallen short at Group Level. He also finished unplaced in the 2017 edition of this race and was well-beaten behind Sharja Bridge on one occasion last season.

Oh This Is Us

Trained by Richard Hannon and he bounced back from a disappointing run at Wolverhampton to land a big-pot on All-Weather Champions Finals Day at Lingfield last time under today’s jockey Tom Marquand. However, he has been beaten in all seven Group Races he has run in. He was also well-beaten by Beat The Bank last season and is 3lb worse off today.

Regal Reality

Has something to find with a few of these on collateral form-lines, but could easily be the type of Sir Michael Stoute-trained horse that takes a significant step forward from three to four. Stoute won the 2006 and 2007 editions with similar types and he could be a big danger if there is any money around for him, especially as Ryan Moore is booked to ride.

Sharja Bridge

Hails from the red-hot stable of Roger Varian but, despite winning a weak-looking Listed Race on his seasonal debut, he looks to have something to find on his overall form. However, he does have a decent draw in stall-seven and could run well.

Ran two massive races in the US in the Autumn of 2017 but he did not look quite as good last season, including when beaten by Beat The Bank at Ascot. It’s also asking a lot of him to take a step forward at the age of eight from a low-draw in stall three.

Latest win came three starts ago off a mark of 97 on the all-weather and it’s asking a lot of him to win at this level. However, as he runs for the same connections as Beat The Bank, he may be here to perform pace-making duties.

Bet365 Mile 2019 Verdict

Oh This Is Us looked useful on Good Friday but has fallen short at this level before, whilst Sharja Bridge won his prep run but doesn’t look as good as the last two horses to do that and come on and win this race.

That means, unless Regal Reality has improved massively from three to four, this could be a battle between last year’s winner Addeybb and Beat The Bank. The latter is just preferred, as he’s yet to be beaten in Group 2 company and like three of the last four winners, he’s drawn in stall-eight. Silvestre De Sousa also has a remarkable record for the owners, who may have entered Zwayan to perform pace-making duties.

Any prices above 3/1 (4.00) look well worth taking, especially considering that the last 10 winners have all gone to fancied horses near the head of the market.
