Lincoln Trial Handicap Analysis
13:35 at Wolverhampton Racecourse on 7th March
Whilst this class 2 handicap over 1 mile 142 yards is billed as a trial for the Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster in three-weeks, in truth it’s simply a decent race in its own right that normally has little impact on the Lincoln Handicap. But with a first prize of over £30,000, the winning connections won’t care.
The last 10 winners have all been aged four, five, or six and have been rated between 91 and 100, and Via Serendipity, Another Touch, Goring, Arcanada, Nonios, Smile A Mile, Assimilation, and Kaser all fail to comply with one or both of those statistics.
Red Bond was a taking winner at Wolverhampton last time, but the handicapper has raised him 13lb and he needs to find more improvement to cope with this rise in class. Kasbaan is also 9lb higher than for his last win, but it will be interesting to see if a first-time tongue-tie can bring about some improvement.
Pinnata is 5lb higher for his last win, but more worrying is the fact he’s flopped on both his previous runs at Wolverhampton. Fox Power has a better record at the course having finished first, second, and third on his three previous visits, but he’s flopped in his last two handicaps elsewhere off a 1lb higher mark.
