Pinsent Masons Introductory Juvenile Hurdle 2019 Analysis
12:45 at Sandown on 6th December
There doesn’t look to be too many horses with obvious chances in this class 2 hurdle over 1 mile 7 furlongs and 216 yards.
The Pink’n was rated in the high 70s on the flat and he looked likely to make an even better hurdler when successful on his national hunt debut. However, he’s not got as progressive a profile as Goshen who won his last three races on the flat and is now rated in the 80s in that discipline. He made an instant impact over hurdles and is respected for the Gary Moore stable that won this race in 2013 and 2017. But both these horses must concede 5lb to potentially useful recruits from top yards.
Thyme Whyte was also useful on the flat before being exported from France to the stable of Paul Nicholls. He makes his debut for the Champion Trainer here, but Nicholls doesn’t boast a great record in the race.

A chance is given to Goa Lil who was also exported to France after his last run, when winning a bumper. It’s interesting that he was bought by the connections who won this race last year and sent to last year’s winning trainer Nigel Twiston-Davis. Unlike last year’s winner Torpillo, he is yet to win over hurdles, so escapes a 5lb penalty.
Simon Jennings Memorial Novices' Limited Handicap Chase 2019 Analysis
13:55 at Sandown on 6th December
This class 3 handicap takes place over 2 miles 4 furlongs and 10 yards and the last seven editions have been dominated by horses aged either five or six and rated between 120 and 125. That’s two reasons for wanting to be against the potential favourite Burbank who is 7 and rated 136. Eragon De Chanay, Legal Eyes, Paint The Dream, Canelo, My Way, and Lithic are also rated higher than ideal.

The eye is drawn to Editeur Du Gite who was snapped up €150,000 by the connections of former Champion Chaser Sire Du Grugy who enjoyed many great days at Sandown. He does have to defy an absence of 570 days but, interestingly, trainer Gary Moore sends him straight over fences, which suggests he may well have grown and strengthened since winning over hurdles when last seen.

Ballymore Winter Novices’ Hurdle 2019 Analysis
14:25 at Sandown on 6th December
This Grade 2 Hurdle over 2 miles 3 furlongs and 173 yards has been won by some useful types including Fingal Bay, Taquin De Seuil, and On The Blind Side. It’s hard to know whether this year’s field has any stars lurking in it but there are plenty of interesting runners.
Amazingly, none of the seven trainers represented this year have won the race in the last 10-years, including Paul Nicholls who is represented by Enrillo. But this winner of two bumpers and a novice hurdle hung badly when last seen. That race was won by the re-opposing House Island for Paul Webber, a trainer who landed a gamble on Thursday. But House Island now has a 3lb penalty to carry against better horses.
Happygolucky could pay a compliment to Thyme Hill if winning here but his stable isn’t in the best of form, a comment that also applies to the stable of Overthetop, who boasts the only unbeaten record in the race and is highly-regarded by his trainer Olly Murphy.
Up The Straight was 33/1 when winning at Lingfield three weeks ago, but the ground is unlikely to be as testing here as he steps up in class. Ofalltheginjoints won his first start over hurdles but was beaten on his second by a useful prospect from the Dan Skelton yard that has won more easily since.

It’s interesting that Dan Skeleton saddles Emma’s Joy in this Grade 2, and she’s fancied to make the most of the 7lb mares’ allowance as she bids to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner Ailsa Mix. Emma’s Joy impressed when well-gambled to win on her hurdle debut at Warwick and she’s fancied to be even better over the extra distance of this race.
