Free NBA Playoff Picks For Sunday 14th April

Our first game promises to be one of the more intriguing NBA series as the Pacers match up well against the inconsistent Celtics.

Indiana Pacers vs. Boston Celtics @ TD Garden

Past Meetings And Form

Boston had a 3-1 advantage during the regular season, which includes a 117-97 win the last time they played.

Celtics have been the better team this season and they have more upside than the Pacers, who are without their star player, but that has been the case for most of the season.

Boston has their injury problems with Marcus Smart out and the likes of Al Horford and Aron Baynes listed as day-to-day.

Both teams possess the potential to make a deep run in the east.

Boston should come through this series with the win but it won’t be easy. They haven’t looked anything like the 2017/2018 team which made a deep run without star guard Kyrie Irving.

He has created plenty of diversion in this team and it could wreak havoc in the playoffs.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Portland Trail Blazers @ Moda Center

Portland made a late regular season run, which helped their ranking. In return, they get the daunting task of facing the Thunder.

Past Meetings And Form

OKC didn’t lose a game to the Blazers throughout the regular season. They have one of the best teams on paper and although they showed some inconsistencies throughout the season, they hit top gear late.

Thunder won their last five, which included wins over Houston and Milwaukee – two serious playoff teams.
With Russell Westbrook and Paul George in the squad, it’s tough to see the Thunder losing this series, but Game 1 will be tough on the road.

Portland have been great at home this season with 32 wins and only nine losses. The Thunder have won only 22 games on the road and that’s the telling point of this game.

That being said, the Thunder have eyes on an NBA title and they have the weapons to finally get it done.
They shouldn’t see the Trail Blazers as a serious threat to them and if they come out swinging in Game 1 on Sunday, this series could be over in a flash.

Detroit Pistons vs. Milwaukee Bucks @ Fiserv Forum

Projected to be the shortest series in the first round, the Pistons play the Bucks, with one team looking considerably better than the other.

Past Meetings And Form

Milwaukee has unsurprisingly won all four games against the Detroit Pistons this season and that could be 8-0 by the time this series has ended.

We don’t rate the Pistons much and despite making the playoffs and credit to them, they’re about to get smoked by the Bucks.

The Bucks have a potential MVP candidate with the Greek Freak and the Pistons simply don’t match up very well. Sure, Blake Griffin is a talented player in his own right but he can’t lead a team like Giannis can.

Game 1 should go much like the rest of the series. Bucks will come out firing and quickly put the Pistons to the sword.

Bookmakers are yet to set a line but it should be around the –12 mark and we would happily take that with the Bucks likely to score a double-digit victory.

Utah Jazz vs. Houston Rockets @ Toyota Center

This should be a great series between one team which focuses on defense and another which likes to score at will.

Past Meetings And Form

The regular season series is tied at 2-2 and that should make for an exciting playoff series.

Houston has looked the better team throughout, however, with James Harden making another claim for the MVP and we think he’s the best chance for it.

His scoring power has been the difference for the Rockets this season and with 36.1 points per game, Harden is simply on fire.

He needs a supporting cast and has that with Chris Paul and Clint Capela. If they all work as a unit, the Rockets could go all the way.

Utah has a solid team and Donovan Mitchell has backed up his impressive rookie season with a team-leading 23.8 points per game.

Rudy Gobert is an underrated player on defense and he could make it tough for Capela on the block.

Houston is one of our picks to go all the way this season and they should start Game 1 with authority.

The line is set at 6.5 and although that’s a little higher than expected, Houston can get hot at any minute and quickly turn a 10-point deficit into a 10-point lead.

On that basis, we’re going with the Rockets to score a comfortable home victory to start the series.
