By Daryl @ Betting Gods

Three top games and three top NBA picks as playoff positioning is on the line this Saturday with Milwaukee Bucks looking to increase their lead in the East and Miami just looking to hold on to the #8 spot.

It all makes for an intriguing game where some of the best NBA players are in action.

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Miami Heat @ American Airlines Center

Past Meetings And Stats

This will be the third game between the Bucks and Heat this season, with the series being split at 1-1. The Heat scored a 94-87 win in December before the Bucks rebounded at home to thrash the Heat 124-86.

Since that time, the Bucks have been the much better team, with a record of 51-17. That’s some record and having won of the best players in the league, Giannis Antetokounmpo, certainly helps their cause.
Heat haven’t given up hope of making a playoff run, however, as they are the current #8 seeds after beating up on Detroit last Thursday.

They have the ability to beat a team like the Bucks on their home court and they have looked impressive winning four of their last five games.

Verdict

There’s no doubt the Milwaukee Bucks will be the favorite for this game as they are heavily-backed by the public and will attract plenty of attention, but don’t go writing off this pesky Miami team.

They might not have the superstar power of the Bucks, but they have the likes of Dwayne Wade and Hassan Whiteside. Both players can get hot at any moment and with more on the line for the Heat, they could be the more desperate side in this situation.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. New Orleans Pelicans @ Smoothie King Center

Portland has looked good this season and they are flying under the radar. They will be looking to get back to .500 on the road as they face the Pelicans, which have been less than impressive on and off the court this season.

Past Meetings And Stats

Portland has won both games played against the Pelicans this season but both were home games. They scored a 132-119 win in November and backed that up with a solid 128-112 win in January.

Times have changed for the Pelicans since then, which have been “resting” All Star Anthony Davis, who is a free agent at the end of the season and is essentially playing just to keep his fitness in check.
It has created a tough environment in New Orleans as he often sits the fourth quarter, which has led the Pelicans to drop their last four games. Losses to Jazz, Raptors, Hawks and Bucks have put them back to 30-40 on the season and the Trail Blazers are not easy to play at the moment.

They have won their last two and seven out of their last 10. Damian Lillard is averaging 26 points per game and although they’re not a genuine NBA championship contender, they are playing well and are relatively injury free.

Verdict

Portland is clearly the form team coming into this game and despite being on the road, they should come away with the win.

It’s tough to trust what the Pelicans are going to do on the court and with some key players injured or being rested, that doesn’t give bettors much confidence.

Bookmakers are siding with the Trail Blazers and with good reason.

Phoenix Suns vs. Houston Rockets @ Toyota Center

Phoenix has been a pesky team to beat in the latter half of the season – just ask the Golden State Warriors, and they could prove a challenge for the Houston Rockets to blast past this Saturday.

Past Meetings And Stats

The Rockets haven’t lost to the Phoenix Suns since April 2016, which includes 10 straight victories.
That’s some record that Houston owns over the struggling franchise but the Suns have produced some good play of late. They upset the Bucks and the Warriors in their last five games, showing fans what they can do when they’re not tanking.

Rockets’ nine-game winning streak came to an end on Thursday when losing by two points to the Warriors, but they couldn’t have played any worse and still only narrowly went down.

This could be the game where Houston flexes their muscles and puts up a big number on the Suns.

Verdict

There’s no doubting that Phoenix have improved mightily towards the end of the season and it has been brave, but Houston are the better team and they should be too good in this situation.

Expect James Harden to take advantage of his matchup and his support men behind the arc to get fired up after a less-than-average performance against the Warriors.

The line is set at 13.5, so Houston will need to come out humming but we believe they will.
