Eastern Conference positions are up for grabs when the Pistons visit Indiana to play the Pacers to kick off NBA Monday.

Detroit Pistons vs. Indiana Pacers @ Bankers Life Fieldhouse

Past Meetings And Form

The Pistons and Pacers have played twice this season with the 1-1 result going to both home teams.

That bodes well for the Pacers here but they have been in awful form towards the important end of the season. It was always going to be hard for the Pacers, who are playing without Victor Oladipo and they also have one of the toughest schedules in the NBA.

They have won only one of their last eight games, coming against the Denver Nuggets, and during that time they have recorded poor losses to the Magic, Warriors and Thunder.

Facing the Pistons will be a nice relief for the Pacers, however, but they come into this game having won their last two against the Magic and Blazers.

This game will be all about which team grabs momentum heading into the playoffs.

The Pacers are on a skid but they still have a good team on paper. They also boast a home record of 28-10 and the Pistons are very average on the road with a record of 14-28.

Bookmakers should frame this game close in the betting but they will ultimately give the advantage to the Pacers and we think they should do enough to score a much-needed home-court win.

Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics @ TD Garden

Another Eastern Conference matchup between two teams which could do with a confidence-boosting win on Monday.

Past Meetings And Form

The Heat have made a late push for a playoff spot and they have Detroit in their sights after recorded back-to-back wins coming into this game.

With wins coming against the Mavericks and Knicks, the Heat have surged back into playoffs contention but facing the Boston Celtics is a much harder task.

Boston have been anything but consistent this season and we’re not sure what to expect for the rest of the year. They backed up a solid win over the Pacers with a shocking loss to the Nets and it’s making life tough for Celtics’ fans and bettors.

Going 4-6 over their last 10, Celtics have slipped in the East and further losses to close the season will put them in a bad situation. A win against the Heat, whom they defeated at TD Garden in January, will go down nicely in Boston.

Heat have some quality players sitting on the sidelines, including Justise Winslow and Josh Richardson.

Boston should be looking at this game as a must-win but on the same token, the Heat need the win to stay in the playoff hunt.

The desperation level will be high for the Heat but that could force them to play too hard against a Celtics team which can be the best in the league on any given night.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves @ Target Center

Minnesota can make life difficult for the Trail Blazers on Monday night after scoring an upset win over the Warriors last week.

Past Meetings And Form

Portland has taken 2/3 against the Timberwolves this season but they have yet to play each other in 2019.
The season has been all about injuries for both teams, with Portland missing Nurkic and potentially CJ McCollum for this game. On the other side of the coin, Minnesota could be without Robert Covington, Jeff Teague and Derrick Rose is definitely out for the season.

Portland had won five straight before losing to the Nets 99-90 and their injury toll is definitely starting to have a negative impact on their season.

Minnesota isn’t going to be playing in the playoffs but they scored a gritty 131-130 win over the Warriors last week and that should hold them in good stead for this. The game was riddled with poor referee calls late, but they still put themselves in the position to snatch away a win from the Warriors.

They subsequently lost to the 76ers at home but they could test a less than full strength Portland side here.

Bookmakers have the Portland Trail Blazers as –3.5 favorites and that’s due to their higher position in the conference, but those records won’t mean much to the Timberwolves.

Minnesota has the team to cause an upset at any given time, as they showed last week, and Portland isn’t exactly a powerhouse team.

Injuries will have an effect on this game but it shouldn’t detract from what should be an exciting game between two better than average NBA teams.
